Joined Merino ewes sell to $233 on AuctionsPlus

auctionsplus-2Merino ewes presented well, with a top line of rising two-year old’s making the top price of $233 on AuctionsPlus last week.

Commercial sheep numbers on AuctionsPlus totalled 45,257 head, which was an increase of 11,657 from the previous week.

Wether numbers made up the majority of this week’s listings with a total of 15,868 head offered. Ewe numbers were also strong in this week’s listings with a total of 15,526 head offered. The total clearance rate for sheep this week was 85%.

Merino ewes presented well, with a top line of rising two-year old’s making the top price of $233. The line of Poll Merino ewes from Neuarpurr, VIC are SIL to White Suffolk rams and will grow into proven breeders or retained as woolgrowers with the support of Willemenup blood.

Another standout line of Merino ewes hailed from Jerilderie, NSW which is located within the Riverina. The 2-4-year-old girls made $172.50 and are SIL to Poll Dorset rams along with a 2.5” skin. The ewes consist of Hazeldean bloodlines.

First cross ewes from Wellington, NSW made an impressive $272. These 12-13-month-old ewes are SIL to Tattykeel blood Poll Dorset rams and will be making the 680km trip into Victoria.

Here the girls will spend the winter months and hopefully drop lambs onto some lush green feed. Another line of first cross ewes from Maroona, VIC made a solid $267.

These 2.5-4.5-year-old ewes are SIL to Konongwootong blood Poll Dorsets and are staying in the southern state of Victoria.

Booroola Multimeat/Composite ewe’s lambs made a notable $260 in this week’s Tuesday Sheep Sale. The June/July 2016 drop ewe lambs are SIL to Chrome Composite rams due to lamb in winter. Stock located in Wattle Range, SA.

40 kg to 42 kg made $128 to $134.50 to average $131 or 316c/kg live

43 kg + made $141 or 322c/kg live

A line of second cross Dorset mixed sex lambs from Dirranbandi, QLD made top dollar in this week’s Tuesday Sheep Sale. The August/September 2016 drop lambs weighed 43.8 kg live with a 1” skin, made $141. Well done to the vendors ‘Carson Family Trust’ on such a great result.

Merino wethers presented well this week with a top line hailing from Neilrex, Western NSW. The rising two-year old’s made $145 presenting in forward store condition, averaging 43kg. The wethers have 9 months’ worth of wool on their backs. Could be put onto feed to fatten or to retain as woolcutters, which might not be a bad idea with the current price of wool!

Another line of Merino wethers from Inglewood, Northern VIC made $140. These May/June 2016 drop wethers weigh 35.4 kg live and consist of Goolgumbla blood. Vendor has averaged 17.5 micron for the last three years.
