Jerseys sold direct to NZ for first time in 30 years

Sharing the equal top price of $8500 was the outstanding freshly calved heifer Kenarie Glory Clusterette backed by several generations of EX, show champions selling to Rocky Allen of Cobargo, NSW.

A huge crowd of Jersey enthusiasts from 5 States of Australia and New Zealand were at the Kenarie ‘Sale of the half Century’, celebrating 53 years of Breeding by Pat & Trish McDonald at Murwillumbah, NSW.

For the first time in 30 years Australian Jerseys were sold to go direct to New Zealand.

Buyers Peter & Claire Hansen & Family of Lilac Grove Jerseys, Rangiora in Canterbury, NZ selected four outstanding cows including the equal sale top of $8500 for Kenarie Inline Vinnie, EX 92, this big, stylish rising 5 year old is by Nextinline, the son of IDW winner Brunchilli Sambo Noeline.

These buyers also selected Kenarie Inline Floss, EX a many time Champion at $4750, Kenarie Hastie Spotlight, EX 91 who had just completed a lactation of 450 kgs fat at $4500 and Kenarie Hastie Coronet, Ex who had recently completed a lactation of 8450 litres and is backed by many generations of EX dams at $4250.

Next top of $6600 was the stylish freshly calved heifer Kenarie Inline Countess selling to Marks Bros of Winvarl Jerseys at Dorrigo, NSW. Victorian breeders Neville & Janelle McDonald of Sunshine Farm Jerseys, Kyabram paid $6500 for Kenarie Eloquent Finch the daughter of the reigning Brisbane Royal Supreme Champion Cow Kenarie Jade Finch.

These buyers also selected Kenarie Alternate Dream a fresh heifer just scored VG 87 at $4800. The 2015 Intermediate Champion at Brisbane Royal Kenarie Inline Confetti, VG 88 sold for $6500 to Cooke & Burns of Pampoolah, NSW.

Queensland buyers made several purchases including Kenarie Bright Grey, EX 91 a 4th gen. Ex with over 430 kgs fat and a show champion at $5250 to P Mahaffey.

The three bulls on offer met strong demand with M & D Parker of Kyogle selecting Kenarie Cosmic at $5250 and Kenarie Zodiac at $4400. While Kenarie Gusto backed by 7 generations of Ex sold Profitable Cattle Breeders at $4500.

Other noted sales included Kenarie Strait Bloom VG at $4500 and Kenarie Reflection Style VG at $4200 to G Cochrane of Kangaroo Valley, NSW. Menzies Farm of Numbaa selected for the very fresh heifer Kenarie Galaxy Coronet, VG at $4000. Strong buyer throughout the sale J Barlow paid $4000 for Kenarie Galaxy Style.
