At the close of Wednesday’s markets the eastern states restocker lamb indicator decreased 8¢, to 535¢/kg cwt.
- Merino lambs were steady on 483¢/kg cwt
- Light lambs were up 2¢, to 520¢/kg cwt
- Trade lambs were back 2¢, to 525¢/kg cwt
- Heavy lambs were back 2¢, to 517¢/kg cwt
- The mutton indicator increased 2¢, to 304¢/kg cwt
Lamb numbers at CTLX increased 36% to 9,150 head. Quality improved this week, with a good selection of heavier weights showing finish. Plainer lines were also well represented, with all buyers in operation and competition strong across the pen, resulting in a dearer market.
Sheep throughput declined 19%, to 3,475 head. Quality varied, with medium weight Merino ewe’s selling to a dearer trend.

- Heavy weight 4 score old lambs to slaughter were 8¢ lower, on 491¢/kg cwt
- Extra heavy weight 4 score old lambs were 38¢ dearer, on 517¢/kg cwt
- Light weight 2 score Merino ewes were 12¢ dearer, on 235¢/kg cwt
In the lead up to Easter Cootamundra lamb consignments decreased this week, yarding 1,600 head. Quality followed a similar trend, with lighter weights making up the majority of the pen. Trade lines were in limited supply, however were well supported by the buyers that attended.
Mutton numbers declined 27%, to 1,200 head. Quality was plain, with well finished heavier weights in short supply.
