Rain results in Angus steers making $1530 at Ballarat sale

Twenty millimetres of overnight rain helped steady demand at the monthly Ballarat store cattle sale on Friday 18 Mar. 14 Angus steers, 496kg, sold to a market top of $1530. To read more CLICK HERE

Demand, although easier, remained strong at the Roberts Ltd Powranna weaner sale in northern Tasmania on Thursday 17 Mar. A market top price of $1300 was paid for a pen of Stony Croft Angus steers weighed at 401kg. To read more CLICK HERE

Maybe the fever of the Mountain Cattle sales flowed over the hill to Wodonga on Thursday 17 Mar, or it might have been the weather bureau’s prediction of 20-40mm of rain the next day,  but competition was very good. GG&FM Glass, Allens Flat, had sold their property, and offered 36 Angus cows, 4-8 years, selling for up to $1490. To read more CLICK HERE

Weaner steers averaged just short of $1000 at the annual Bairnsdale calf sale. The associated agents’ yearly fixture yarded 2930, with yearling steers topped at $1290 (277c/kg) for Angus steers, weighing 465kg. To read more CLICK HERE
