Dairy Shorthorns top at $5400 at Tuerong dispersal

Dairy-ShorthornA large crowd was again at the Shepparton Selling Centre for the 2nd Stage Complete Dispersal Sale of Tuerong Dairy Shorthorns of Malcolm & Ian Douglas of Stanhope.

Buyers from throughout Victoria along with NSW, WA & Tasmania bid freely on the quality line of in calf heifers and Bulls.

Top price of $5400 was paid for the outstanding Spring calving heifer Tuerong EP Princess 6, this class lot combined the blood of Lubra Bend Supreme 27 and Twells Heather King 15 (UK), she was purchased by Sophie Tomkins of Gollan, NSW. The same buyer also selected the top selling bull Tuerong Regal Barry 2 at $3250.

Second high seller at $4000 was another Spring calving heifer Tuerong JN Biddy 50 a daughter of UK sire Lisnamulligan Fairway and from last years top selling cow Tuerong JN Biddy 30 a former Melbourne Royal Champion. She was purchased by P Price of Leongatha who also purchased the 2nd top bull Tuerong Cares Bugler 7 at $3000.

The Tuerong lots had the following averages. 14 Spring calving heifers av $2775. 7 Autumn 17 calving heifers av $2057. 8 Bulls av $2706

Also selling was the quality lines of Dairy Shorthorns from the Turramurra herd of N & L Fry of Benalla and Drydens Run of K Doggett at Kyneton.
Cows from Turamurra sold to $2600 with the 9 month old heifer Turramurra Sylvie 146 selling at $2100 to P Cooper of Orange, NSW.
Semen was in great demand. Maxton Enterprise at $200 per straw. Kinsel Lord Barrington at $160. Maxton High Society $150 and Henshallbrook Premier at $130.
