Eastern states restocked lamb indicator sits at 598c/kg

Wagga-sheep-10At the close of Thursday’s markets the eastern states restocker lamb indicator averaged 598¢, up 30¢/kg cwt from where it finished the previous day

  • Merino lambs were back 4¢, to 556¢/kg cwt
  • Light lambs were back 3¢, on 575¢/kg cwt
  • Trade lambs were back 14¢, on 633¢/kg cwt
  • Heavy lambs were back 7¢, on 637¢/kg cwt
  • The mutton indicator were back 7¢, on 388¢/kg cwt

This week at Wagga, lamb throughput increased 12% to 33,000 head. The supply of new season lambs continued to lift, with quality quite mixed across older categories. Not carrying the fat cover suitable for trade buyers, lambs in full wool trended cheaper, with all export and most domestic buyers in attendance.

Mutton throughput eased marginally this week, to 6,000 head. A plainer supply of sheep was on offer, with heavier lines limited.

  • Trade weight 3 score new season lambs were back 64¢, at 650¢/kg cwt
  • Light weight 2 score old merino lambs eased 21¢, at 560¢/kg cwt
  • Trade weight 3 score old lambs to processors slipped 43¢, to 648¢/kg cwt
  • Medium weight 2 score Merino ewes were back 25¢, on 352¢/kg cwt
