SELX-Sheep-Nov-29

Julie Alders, Taralga topped today’s market with 80 XB Suckers sold by Greg Anderson, MD & JJ Anderson to a top of $188.2ph.

Medium and heavy trade lambs sold $3 to $5 dearer, selling from $136 to $153/head at SELX on November 29.

Overall numbers lifted but lamb numbers eased, with 18,000 new season lambs and 1,000 Merino lambs drawn.

Old lambs were limited and mutton numbers increased to 12,000 head. The quality of the lamb run was fair to good with light 2 score lambs well supplied and most went to restocking orders.

There were good drafts of trade and heavy lambs, but lambs over 27kg were in short supply.

The 2 score restocking lambs ranged from $72 to $126/head.

Heavy lambs ranged between $145 and $165, with the few extra heavy lambs reaching $188.20/head. Carcase prices averaged from 600c to 650c/kg cwt. Hoggets reached $160/head.

Mutton numbers lifted and the quality was good. Light sheep were in short supply and there were plenty of medium and heavy sheep for processors.

Prices lifted $8 to $9/head. Medium weight ewes sold from $81 to $134/head. Merino wethers reached $156/head. Heavy crossbred ewes also sold to $156/head. Most averaged from 440c to 470c/kg cwt.
