Medium and heavy trade weight lambs were $5 to $9 dearer and ranged from $139 to $162/head at SELX this week.
Lamb numbers lifted with 20,300 new season lambs penned. Quality was better with an increase in weight with more trade lambs offered.
Heavy lambs still remain in short supply and the number of light 2 score lambs that returned to the paddock were back.
A small number of mostly light Merino lambs were offered while old lambs have almost finished. All the usual buyers operated in a firm market.
The 2 score restocking lambs were $7 dearer and sold from $96 to $128/head.
Heavy lambs lifted $6 to $10 and received $151 to $180/head. Extra heavy lambs reached $197.20/head. Carcase prices ranged averaged from 650c to 660c/kg.
Mutton numbers were back and the quality was mixed. There were a lot more light sheep offered and prices were dearer.
Medium weight ewes sold from $82 to $130/head. Heavy Merino ewes sold from $122 to $145/head and very heavy crossbreds topped at $177/head.
Merino wethers sold to $172/head. Carcase prices averaged around 480c to 500c with some spikes to 540c/kg.
