Medium and heavy trade weight lambs to $147

SELX-sheep-Feb-8

C&T Willis, Crookwell topped today’s market with XB Lambs sold by Jock Duncombe, Duncombe & Co for $170ph.

The better finished medium and heavy trade weights made between $6 and $10 cheaper and sold from $117 to $147/head at SELX this week.

Lambs numbers eased and the quality was mixed. Light 2 score lambs were well supplied with fewer unshorn lambs and an increase in shorn light weights.
Prime trade weights were only reasonably supplied and heavy and extra heavy lambs remain in short supply. Merinos were limited. Not all the usual buyers operated in a cheaper market.

The 2 score lambs to restockers sold from $76 to $123/head.

Heavy lambs were also cheaper selling from $150 to 169 with a handful of extra heavy lambs reaching $170/head. The best of the hoggets reached $140/head.

Mutton numbers lifted and the quality varied with plenty of light 1 and 2 score sheep offered. Heavy weights were back in volume.

The market was $6 to $12 cheaper. Medium weight ewes sold from $70 to $114/head. Heavy crossbreds sold from $118 to $133/head. Merino wethers reached $136/head.
