Bull lineup for National Shorthorn Show and Sale

2017-Shorthorn-NationalNext week sees the premier National Shorthorn Show and Sale take place at Dubbo Showgrounds on June 12 and 13.

The event kicks off on Tuesday June 12 with judging at 12pm, with Steve Peake, Bowen Poll Herefords and Peakes Angus, judging.

Steve said he was looking forward to the event, particularly as the breed celebrates its biggest achievement of the past few years, the Thousand Guineas brand, which has created a new premium market for producers.

“You’ve got to take your hat off to the Shorthorn breed,” Mr Peake said.

“They’ve been able to really improve the breed in the last decade.”

Following judging a Special Female sale will be held offering 11 exceptional heifers at 5:30pm.

Wednesday the 13that 10.00am see the bulls go up for sale.

The line up of bulls has been listed as impressive and extensive with 130 bulls from 36 studs represented from NSW, Victoria, Queensland and SA. For the first time the sale will be interfaced with AuctionPlus.

Sale committee President and vendor Lester Job, Moombi Shorthorns, Cumnock, said the event was a good opportunity for buyers to purchase from a range of bloodlines.

“We have several vendors have been in the sale for many years, but we’re also getting new studs in the sale every year,” Mr Job said.

“In previous years we’ve had commercial and stud support, and some studs have been set up using cattle from Dubbo as their foundation sires.
