Merino ewe lambs top out at $195 on AuctionsPlus

These Border Leicester/SAMM ewes, 12-13 months, from Nyngan, sold for $190 on AuctionsPlus.

Merino ewe lambs under 12 months sold from $54.50 to $195, with an average price of $125 on AuctionsPlus last week.

The top price was achieved by a line of 102 ewe lambs from Nhill, Victoria. These girls weigh 48kgs and are based on East Bungaree bloodlines.

Merino ewe hoggets sold for an average price of $137, with prices ranging from $100 to $171. A line of 400 ewes, from Balranald, New South Wales, weighing 41kgs and based from Alma blood, returned the top price. Young breeding ewes sold from $81 to $160, to average $124.

A line of 126 SIL ewes from Lock, South Australia achieved the top price. These ewes are in lamb to Suffolk rams, rising 2 to 4 years old, weigh 61kgs and were shorn in July this year.

While proven Merino breeders averaged $93, selling from $58 to $150. Also, from Lock, South Australia, a line of rising 5-year-old SIL ewes sold for the top price. These 219 ewes come from Glenville blood, weigh 73kgs and are in lamb to Suffolk rams.

Merino wether lambs sold from $37.50 to $109 and returned an average price of $68. The top price was achieved by a line of 241 wether lambs from Karoonda, South Australia.

These lambs are April-June drop and weigh 32kgs, and unshorn with up to 2” of wool. Merino wether hoggets were in shorter supply and sold from $70 to $143. The top price went to a line of 335 wethers from The Rock, New South Wales which weigh 53kgs and were shorn in January.

First cross ewe lambs returned from $100.50 to $185 this week, for an average price of $142. The top price went to a line of 191 ewe lambs from Boorowa, New South Wales.

1st cross ewe hoggets sold for $148 to $231, returning an average price of $209. From Condah, Victoria a line of 192 SIL ewes sold for the top price, these ewes weigh 55kgs and are in lamb to White Suffolk rams.

Highlights for crossbred ewes saw a line of 400 of Border Leicester/SAMM ewes from Nyngan, New South Wales return $190.

These ewes are NSM, 12-13 months and weigh 53kgs. While from Walgett; a line of 156 White Suffolk/Merino ewes returned $130.

These ewes are 22-23 months and not station mated. Also from Walgett, a line of 642 Dohne ewes achieved $148. These ewes are NSM, 4 years old, weigh 71kgs and are based on Pure Macquarie Dohne blood.

Highlights for ewes and lambs, saw a line of 65, 2-5-year-old White Suffolk ewes and 70 lambs from Crookwell, New South Wales return $220. The lambs at foot are 4-10 weeks old and sired by Abrona and Wanden White Suffolk rams.

While from Mudgee, New South Wales, a line of 167 Merino NSM 2-year-old ewes and 174 lambs, aged 8-12 weeks and sired by Abra Border Leicester rams achieved $237.
