At Corowa sheep sale on December 3, a yarding of 8680 lambs and 4900 sheep resulted in lift in numbers and quality.
There was an increase in shorn lambs and light store lambs were in fewer numbers. Trade weights were well supplied and there was a very good run of heavy shorn lambs. The market was close to steady on most lambs.
New season lambs to the restockers sold from $69 to $112/head.
The 2 score processing lambs made from $100 to $128/head. Medium and heavy trade weights sold from $131 to $171/head, averaging 715c/kg cwt. Heavy 4 score lambs made from $168 to $196 and extra heavy new season lambs reached $206/head.
Heavy shorn trade lambs were also firm on average, making from $145 to $178/head. Heavy shorn lambs eased $2 to make from $180 to $193/head.
Extra heavy lambs sold from $188 to $217/head. Carcase prices averaged from 680c to 730c/kg cwt. Hoggets reached $174/head.
Mutton numbers eased and the quality was again mixed, but there were more heavy sheep penned.
Most of the medium and heavy sheep gained $4 to $5/head. Medium weight ewes sold from $90 to $115/head. Heavy crossbreds made from $125 to $150 and Merinos reached $142/head. Merino wethers sold to $148/head. Carcass prices averaged from 460c to 480c/kg cwt.
