Non-station mated Merino ewes sell to $197

These scanned in lamb first-cross ewes from Reedy Creek, SA, sold for $270.

Non-station mated Merino ewes ranged from $50 to $197 and averaged $121 on AuctionsPlus last week.

The top price went to a line of 1.5 year old ewes from Bungendore, NSW. The ewes are 59kgs, are bred from Leahcim blood, have a 1” skin and found a buyer in Wagga Wagga, NSW.

Another line of 310 ewes from the same vendor made $195. These ewes are 54kgs, 1.5 years old, have a 1” skin and are on their way to Ladysmith, NSW.

Scanned in lamb Merino ewes totalled 9,985 head and found a 60% clearance. Prices ranged from $105 to $177 and averaged $143.

The top price went to a line of 214 SIL ewes from Jamestown, SA. The ewes are 4.8-4.9 years old, weigh 74kgs, have been joined to White Suffolk rams and are heading to Naracoorte, SA.

Another highlight saw 540 Leahcim blood ewes from Merrinee, SA sell for $170. The ewes averaged 84kgs, have a 2” skin, are 5.5 to 6 years old and have been joined to Poll Dorset rams.

The ewes were split into two lots and both found a buyer in Mount Gambier, SA.

Merino ewe lambs continue to sell well, particularly in NSW where 88% of the 3,475 head listed found buyers.

Prices ranged from $58 to $142 and averaged $119, $30 up on last week. The top price went to a line of 420 future breeder ewe lambs out of Booligal, NSW.

The lambs are of Bluebush blood, have a 1-1.5” skin, weigh 32kgs and are on their way to Oxley, NSW. The Riverina and the Central West of NSW were the strongest buying regions for ewes and ewe lambs, buying 36% of head listed.

Merino wether lambs sold from $51.5 or 178c to $126 or 288c, averaged $77 and hit a 69% clearance. The top price went to 202 Kamarooka Park blood store wether lambs from Powlett Plains, VIC.

The lambs have a 2” skin with a 17.5 micron, weigh 46kgs and are heading to Bendigo, VIC. Another highlight saw 620 store wether lambs from Wellington, NSW sell for $112.5 or 281c. The lambs are 6-7 months old, have a 2” skin, and are on their way to Dubbo, NSW.

SIL Border Leicester/Merino ewes averaged $205, and sold from $148 to $270. 50% of Border Leicester/Merino ewes & ewe lambs were purchased from Lower SA.

A top price of $270 was found by 134 ewes from Cosgrove South, VIC. The ewes are 18-22 months, weigh 68kgs, have been joined to Poll Dorset rams and are heading to Bungeet, VIC.

Crossbred lambs averaged 317c and ranged from 261c to 350c, up 12c on last week. This top price went to 480 White Suffolk/Merino mixed sex store lambs from Holbrook, NSW.

The lambs are 35kgs, are 5-6 months old, have bred been from primeline Lambpro genetics and are heading to Wagga Wagga, NSW.
