Nero BAL Victoria E066 tops dispersal at $5200

Shorthorn-4A joined female with a heifer calf at foot topped the Nero Shorthorns dispersal on $5200.

Nero Shorthorns was established in 1985 by Keith and Vicki Ridley and has been run at “Nerokewa” Condobolin for the duration of its 34 yrs.

After many tough years and the continuing dry seasons the decision was made to disperse the female herd.

The Nero Dispersal Sale was held on March 2 at the Forbes Central West Livestock Exchange Back Yamma Road Forbes.

There were 67 female lots on offer consisting of cow and calf units, pregnant and joined females and unjoined 12mth females.

Of the 67 females offered 48 were sold resulting in a 71% clearance.

Top price for the day was $5200 for Lot 28 – Nero BAL Victoria E066 (P), a 9.5 yr old PTIC cow with a female calf at foot.

She was purchased by NH & SE Job of Royalla Shorthorns at Yeoval. Two females reached the second top price of $4200 the first being Lot 9- Nero TK Victoria H205 (P)- a 6.5 yr old PTIC cow with male calf at foot selling to a syndicate of Logan, Josh & Hayden Evans of Howzat, JJ & BMS Shorthorns based at Tamworth.

The second female to reach $4200 was Lot 18- Nero Lock Moira F204 (P) a 8.5yr old PTIC cow with twin heifer calves at foot who sold to Peter & Melissa Hughes of XOXO Shorthorns at Fifield.

Pregnant heifers due to calve in Aug/Sept sold to a top of $3500 for Lot 46- Nero RR Alese N154 purchased by LV & SM Job Moombi Shorthorns Cumnock.

Volume buyers for the day included MP Smith, Forbes who purchased 11 females to a top of $4100 and T & H Livestock, Forbes who purchased 6 females for an average of $2250.
