Weaner steers sell up to 346c/kg on AuctionsPlus

These weaner steers from Braidwood, NSW, sold for 326c/kg.

Weaned steers boasted a 93% clearance selling from 239c to 346c to average 298c, up 16c on the previous week on AuctionsPlus.

The top price was returned by a line of 87 weaned Angus steers from Inglewood, Qld. These steers are 207kgs, 5 – 8 months of age and are travelling to Toowoomba, Qld.

A line of 57 Bongongo blood Angus steers from Braidwood, NSW, weighing 225kg, returned 327c and were purchased out of Hamilton, Vic.

Demand of weaned heifers has surged, reflected in a price increase of 20c to average 261c and selling from 226c to 281c. From Armidale, 41 Santa Gertrudis heifers returned the top price. These Brookside blood heifers are 5 – 6 months of age, weigh 101kgs and will travel to Warwick, Qld.

Yearling and grown steers averaged 286c, selling from 209c to 312c. The top price was achieved by a line of 64 Composite backgrounder steers from Kingaroy, Qld. These steers are 277kgs, 10 – 14 months of age and will travel to Taroom, Qld.

Yearling and grown heifers also posted a price increase to average 244c, selling from 196c to 270c. The top price was achieved by a line of 113 Angus heifers from Hannaford, QLD. These heifers are 307kgs, 12 – 15 months of age and will travel to Toowoomba, QLD.

Joined females averaged $939 this week, down $83. From Inverell, NSW a line of 38 PTIC Angus cows returned the top price of $1,330. These cows are 463kgs, 2.5 – 4.5 years old, are joined to Angus bulls and will travel to Greymare, QLD.

Cow and calves averaged $1,562, which is an increase of $499 from last week, selling from $1,090 to $2,240. From Gawler, SA a line of 17 cows and calves returned the top price. The cows are 3 – 6 years of age and weigh 692kgs. The calves at foot averaged 295kgs, 5 – 10 months of age and are sired by Angus bulls.

This week saw the resurgence of the mid-week cattle sale, which saw three lots offered from the same vendor in Coonamble, NSW. All lots sold including a line of 61 NSM Red Angus cows and 43 calves selling for $1,150. These cows are mixed age, 538kgs and the calves at foot are 1 – 3 weeks of age and are sired by Charolais bulls.

The TAS Cattle Sale also posted a 100% clearance from the three lots offered from Montana, TAS. Highlights include two lines of Angus feeder steers selling for 299c or $1,420. These steers are 240kgs, 16 – 18 months of age and will travel to Smithton, TAS.
