Eagle Ridge Contender L Polka sells to $8000 at dispersal

Selling agents Dairy Livestock Services report there was very strong demand all the way through the six hour sale with 299 sold for an average of $2,365 and gross of $707,135.

A large crowd of Holstein enthusiasts were at Eagle Ridge Holsteins of Russell and Kerry Eagle, Finley, NSW for the First Stage Complete Dispersal comprising of the dairy herd and close to calving heifers.

Buyers were from all parts of Victoria along with the Hunter Valley and New England of NSW.

Sale top of $8,000 was paid by Bendara Dairies of Tandara, Vic for the EX 93 Red cow, Eagle Ridge Contender L Polka, this 8 year old had produced over 500 kgs fat and sold due to Unstopabull-Red.

Next top of $7,000 was for the EX 95 mammary Eagle Ridge Brokaw T Paula, this 3rd gen EX cow sold to Krishlaye Holsteins in South Gippsland, the same buyer also selected Eagle Ridge Brokaw Pauline, VG 88 backed by 2 EX dams at $5,750.

Third top price of $6,250 was paid by the very well known Calderlea Herd of L & L Calder in Menniyan for Eagle Ridge Goldsun T Polly, VG 88, this young cow sported an EX 92 udder and was 9th gen EX & VG.

The fourth top price of $6,000 was paid by local Breeders L & K Culton of Finley for the EX 92, 9 year old Eagle Ridge Shottle HD Polly, this wonderful cow was due in May to Stonefront Artist.

N & M Staley of Yarram selected several top lots including Eagle Ridge Elude F Polly, VG 86 on first lactation at $5,400.

Also going to South Gippsland was Eagle Ridge Goldchip Pauline a 3rd gen. EX cow due to Drifter at $5,200 and Eagle Ridge Chipsun D Polly, VG at $5,100 both going to K & H Jones of Foster.

G & L Hibberd of Cooriemungle Holsteins in Western Victoria also selected several top lots including Eagle Ridge Archrival S Polly, VG 86 on her 1st lactation at $4,900, this classy young cow is from an EX 92 dam and completed 8 gens of EX & VG.

S & L Coombes of Attunga near Tamworth, NSW selected many lots throughout the sale including Eagle Ridge Atwoods B Polly, VG 89, a tremendous quality young cow at $4,800, Eagle Ridge Atwood T Pollyanna, EX 92, this tremendous framed cow was due to Tatoo sold at $4,000 and Eagle Ridge Heztry Al Polka-Red, VG also at $4,000.

The Master Breeder, high production herd of Spunner Pastoral of Berrigan, NSW selected several very good cows including Eagle Ridge Door Wood Polly, this young dry cow by Doorman was close to Undenied and had a PI of 138 at $4,800 and Eagle Ridge Bradnick Legume, VG 88 currently milking over 53 litres $4,400.

Other noted sales including Eagle Ridge CEO GWA Polka, VG 86 on 1st lact. at $4,500 and Eagle Ridge Aftershock G Polka 5, VG 86 at $4,000 both selling to Eloora Past. Co of Blighty who selected 27 lots through the sale.

Also going local was Eagle Ridge Fever Y Tiffany, VG 86 on 1st lact. at $4,300 selling to the Luccombe herd.
