A decade of radical change for red meat supply chain

lamb-meat--6Work to develop the next Meat Industry Strategic Plan (MISP), to guide the red meat and livestock industry through a decade of radical change, will become more visible with a series of industry workshops kicking off this month.

New consumer choices and a changing operating environment, mean our 2030 future will look very different from today.

MISP 2030 is the plan to help people across the industry embrace this change, as an opportunity to create a new and better future.

The initial phase of creating the plan has involved extensive review of existing research and engaging with industry bodies.

Now, a series of workshops will bring together people with experience, new voices, different thinking and bold ambition, from inside and outside the red meat supply chain, to create the solutions we need.

Key workshop dates are:

  • 22 May, Canberra: Future vision – sustainability of our animals and environment
  • 6 June, Sydney: Future vision – consumers and markets
  • 25-27 June, Toowoomba: Designing actions
  • July, 6 regional workshops: Roadtest the strategy and initiatives
  • 14 August, Canberra: Validating and refining the strategy
  • September – October: Finalise and release the strategy
