These first cross ewes from Nyngan, NSW, sold for $260.

First cross ewe lambs were up $9 from last week off the back of recent rain with Central West buyers purchasing 15% of the AuctionsPlus catalogue.

Sheep and lamb numbers increased this week by 14,820 head to total 85,286. Demand across all sales was strong with clearance currently sitting at 83%.
The Central West was the largest purchasing region with just shy of 13,000 head travelling into the area.
Numbers were also boosted by the ‘Back to the Wheatbelt’ sheep sales which were interfaced from Kondinin and Corrigin in Western Australia.
The sales performed well with a touch over 10,000 head offered and a 100% clearance achieved. Five lots were purchased online with a total of 51 connections across the two sales.
Merino ewe lambs sold to a top of $241 for an average of $152, firm on last week. The top price went to a line of 370 Poll Merino future breeders from Grenfell, NSW.
These ewe lambs are Aug – Sep ’18 drop, weigh 58kgs, have a 2” skin and will travel to Moss Vale, NSW. Merino ewe hoggets averaged $185, down $41, selling from $60 to $315. The top price was returned by a line of 350 NSM ewes from Bendigo, VIC.
These rising 2 year old Woodpark Poll blood ewes weigh 62kgs, have a ¾” skin and will travel to Redan, VIC. Young breeders (2 – 4 years) averaged $150, selling from $60 to a top of $275 whilst proven breeders (4 – 7 years) averaged $123 and sold from $54 to a top of $200.
Merino wether lambs sold from $54 to $147 and averaged $101 which is down $11 on last week. The top price was returned by a line of 267 woolgrower wether lambs from Rand, NSW. These lambs are Apr – May ’19 drop, weigh 40kgs, have a 1.5” skin and were secured by a NSW processor. Merino wethers sold from $102 to $110 and averaged $106. The top price was returned by a line of 465 wethers from Rye Park, NSW which are 23 – 24 months of age, 44kgs and will travel to Lavington, NSW.
First cross ewe lambs sold from $150 to $255 to average $206, up $9 on last week. The top price was returned by a line of 90 future breeder ewe lambs from Lake Cargelligo, NSW.
These first cross ewe lambs weigh 58kgs, are Oct – Nov ’18 drop, have a 1.5” skin and will travel to Griffith, NSW. First cross hoggets averaged $242, up $9 from last week, and sold from $220 to $260.
The top price was returned by a line of 305 NSM ewes from Nyngan, NSW which weigh 56kgs, are 14 – 15 months of age, have a ¾” skin and will travel to Yarrawonga, VIC.
Other first cross ewe highlights include a line of 430 ewes with 423 second cross lambs at foot from Mendooran, NSW selling for $314. These ewes are 1.5 – 2 years old, weigh 51kgs, have a 2 ¾” skin and will travel to Warrnambool, VIC.
To other breeds, highlights include a line of 430 Coolalee/Dohne/Border Leicester X ewes and 650 lambs from Wagga Wagga, NSW selling for $351. These ewes are 79kgs, 3 – 4 years of age, bare shorn and will travel to Howlong, NSW.
Store lamb numbers totalled 12,311 head, down by 33,385 head on last week. Demand was strong with all lots selling. Highlights include;
–    June / July 2019 drop, 36kgs, 1stX Poll Dorset/Merino mixed sex lambs from Wirrinya, NSW sold for $161 or 443c.
–    June 2019 drop, 37kg, 2ndX Poll Dorset/Border Leicester mixed sex lambs from Marrar, NSW sold for $160 or 447c.
–    March / April 2019 drop, 41kgs, 1stX White Suffolk/Merino mixed sex lambs from Dookie, VIC sold for $160 or 384c.
–    June 2019 drop, 37kg, 2ndX White Suffolk/Border Leicester mixed sex lambs from Bethungra, NSW sold for $157 or 430c.
