Ewe hoggets average $302 at Lambpro sale

Lambpro-ewesThe Lambpro Maternal Primeline Ewe Sale was held online last week with the 5,803 head offering achieving a 100% clearance.

The strong demand for the Lambpro Primeline genetics was reflected in the strong prices; Ewe lambs sold from $136 to $246, averaging $206.

Ewe hoggets averaged $302 (pictured), selling from $300 to $303 whilst the older ewe offering sold from $240 to $283, averaging $267.

Last week saw a small offering of Merino ewe lambs with strong demand for the category returning a 100% clearance, and selling from $85 to $180 to average $129, down $67 on last week.

A line of Willandra blood ewe suckers weighing 35kgs from Hillston, NSW returned the top price. Merino ewe hoggets were up $8, averaging $216, selling from $105 to $288.

From The Rock, NSW a line of Pastora blood, 15-16 month NSM ewes weighing 60kgs returned $260 and will travel across the border into Victoria.

Young Merino breeders (2-4 years) sold from $126 to $247, averaging $191, down $6 on last week. A line of Willandra blood rising 4 year NSM ewes from Nerrin Nerrin, VIC, weighing 72kgs returned $229. From Morven, QLD a line of Well Gully blood rising 4 year NSM ewes weighing 48kgs returned $148.

Proven Merino breeders (4+ years) from $86 to $221, averaging $157, $13 down on last week. From Wanganella, NSW a line of Spring Plains blood, 5 year old ewes weighing 66kgs returned $167. Whilst from Jamestown, SA a line of NSM ewes, rising 6 years, weighing 74kg returned $188, offered in the Jamestown store sale and will travel interstate to Victoria.

Merino wether lambs sold from $70 to $157, averaging $116, $6 up on last week. A line of Koonwarra blood, Apr/May 19’ drop wether lambs, weighing 43kgs from Grenfell, NSW returned $138. Whilst from Violet Town, VIC a line of Jun/Jul 19’ drop, Toland blood store wether lambs weighing 32kgs returned $105.

Merino wethers sold from $100 to $144, averaging $121, $17 up on last week. From Tharwa, ACT a line of 2 year old, Tallawong and Bogo blood trade wethers, weighing 50kgs returned $128 and will travel across the border to Victoria.

First cross ewe lambs sold from $90 to $250, averaging $155, $4 up on last week. The top price was returned by a line of May/Jun 19’ drop, future breeder ewe lambs weighing 47kgs from Frances, SA.

First cross ewe hoggets sold from $201 to $333, averaging $274, $26 down on last week. From Edenhope, VIC the top price was returned by three lines of 17-18 month future breeder ewe hoggets, weighing 69kgs.

Whilst from Oatlands, TAS a line of 13 month future breeder ewe hoggets, weighing 58kgs returned $280.

Other highlights included a line of Dohne ewes, 5.5-7.5 years, weighing 67kgs with 2-10 week old White Suffolk sired LAF from Hillston, NSW returned $223 and will travel across the border to VIC. Whilst a line of Australian White ewes, 14-16 months, weighing 61kgs, SIL to Australian White rams from Condobolin, NSW returned $205.

This weeks offering of store lambs saw 39,358 head offered, up 11,677 head on last week, with an 85% clearance achieved. The larger offering saw prices slightly lower 12c down on last week averaging 375c, selling from 277c to 541c. Highlights include;

–          Aug/Sep-19, 21kg Border Leicester/Merino mixed sex lambs from MANILLA New South Wales sold for $105.50 or 541c/kg live

–          Jun/Jul-19, 40kg 2nd X Poll Dorset mixed sex lambs from CROOKWELL, New South Wales sold for $157.50 or 404c/kg live

–          Jun/Jul-19, 40kg 2nd X Highlander and White Suffolk store wether lambs from KINGSCOTE, South Australia sold for $140.5 or 350c/kg live

–          Jul/Aug-19, 36kg White Suffolk/Merino wether lambs from SEYMOUR, Victoria sold for $125 or 357c/kg live

–          Jun/Jul-19, 46kg 2nd X Poll Dorset and Poll Dorset/Composite mixed sex lambs from GLENBURN, Victoria sold for $160 or 347c/kg live
