Light steer weaners hit 584c/kg on AuctionsPlus

Calves-WalchaLight steers weighing under 200kgs sold from 390c to 584c, averaging 468c, up 30c on AuctionsPlus last week.

The top price went to a line of 4 to 5-month-old Angus and Angus cross steers (pictured), weighing 139kgs from “Europambela Grazing Co”, Walcha, NSW.

Other highlights included Angus steers, 5 to 6 months, 149kgs from Braidwood, NSW selling for 473c; Hereford steers, 6 to 7 months, 180kgs from Korleelah, NSW selling for 466c.

Steers weighing from 200 to 280kg sold from 308c to 485c, averaging 415c, up 21c. The top price went to a line of 7 to 8 month old, Choice blood Angus steers, weighing 239kg from “H & H Thompson”, Coolah, NSW.  Other highlights include Angus/ Shorthorn steers, 5 to 7 months, 206kgs from Willow Tree, NSW selling for 444c; Shorthorn steers, 5 to 7 months, 204kgs from Breeza, NSW selling for 435c; Santa and Santa cross steers, 7 to 12 months, 220kgs from St George, QLD selling for 412c; Angus steers 15 to 18 months, 249kg from Dungog, NSW selling for 410c.

Cow and calf numbers were up slightly with most listings coming from NSW & QLD. Prices ranged from $1,250 to $2,100 and averaging $1,675 up $304.

The top price went to a line of Angus cows and calves offered by “SB & JA Dohle”, Tahara, VIC. These cows are 5 to 8 years and weigh 574kgs. The Angus calves at foot are 5 to 6 months and weigh 196kgs.

From the same vendors a line of 3-year-old cows and calves sold for $2,090 and a line of 4 to 5-year-old cows and calves sold for $1,900. From Cooma, NSW a line of Hazeldean blood Angus cows and calves sold for $2,040.

These EU accredited cows are aged from 4.5 to 8.5 years and weigh 531kgs. The calves at foot are 4 to 5 months and weigh 171kgs. Out of Cunnamulla, QLD a line of Santa and Santa cross cows and calves sold for $1,575.

These cows are aged from 4 to 11 years and weigh 447kgs and have been running with Hereford bulls. The Santa calves at foot are 1 to 4 months and weigh 102kgs.

PTIC cows sold from $1,260 to $2,370, averaging $1,565 up $39. The top price went to a line from “Richard E Mann”, Penshurst, VIC, who sold 2 to 3-year-old Angus cows, weighing 642kg and are PTIC to Weeran Angus Bulls. Other highlights include; Coolana blood Angus cows, 5 to 6 years, 579kgs  and PTIC to Angus bulls, selling for $1,850 from Glenfyne, VIC; Angus cows, 2.5 years, 382kgs and PTIC to Angus bulls, selling for $1,690 from Armidale, NSW; Angus Cows, 3 to 7 years, 460kgs and PTIC to Angus bulls, selling for $1,400 from Captain Mountain, QLD. A rather unique line of predominately Lincon Reds and a variety of other British and European cross cows from “Churinga Park”, Penola, SA were offered over 3 lines and sold for an average of $1,667.

PTIC heifers sold from $1,215 to $1,760, averaging $1,427 down $220. The top price went to a line of Angus heifers, 21 to 23 months, weighing 448kgs and PTIC to Tivoli Angus bulls from “Springfield Merriwa Past Co”, Merriwa, NSW. Other highlights include Angus heifers, 27 to 29 months, 629kg and PTIC to Angus bulls from Londrigan, VIC sold for $1,660. Moving north, a line from Theodore, QLD of Angus cross and Santa cross heifers, aged 16 to 18 months, weighing 321kgs PTIC to Angus and Santa Bulls sold for $1,215.

Steers weighing from 280 to 330kg sold from 284c to 409c, averaging 379c, up 23c. The top price went to a line of 9 to 10-month-old, Booragul blood Angus steers, weighing 325kgs, from “Grant Family Pastoral Co P/L”, Loomberah, NSW. Other highlights include Angus steers, 14 to 15 months, 316kgs, from Berry, NSW selling for 393c; Angus and Angus cross steers, 14 to 18 months, 308kg from Mudubbera, QLD selling for 390c; Hereford steers, 10 to 11 months, 315kgs from Highlands, VIC selling for 384c.

Steers weighing from 330 to 400kgs sold from 267c to 420c, averaging 378c, up 22c. The top price went to a line of 15 to 18 month old, Wagyu/ Angus steers, weighing 348kg from “Stocklink P/L”, Felton, QLD. Other highlights include Angus steers, 9 to 11 months, 347kg, from Hexham, VIC selling for 401c; Angus steers, 14 to 15 months, 337kgs from Carcoar, NSW selling for 401c; Charolais cross steers, 13 to 16 months, 351kgs from Surat, QLD selling for 376c. Heavy steers weighing 400+ kgs sold from 296c  to 424c, averaging 379c.

The top price went again, to “Stocklink P/L”, Felton QLD offering a line of Wagyu/ Angus steers, 18 to 20 months old and weighing 407kgs. Other highlights include a line of Charolais cross steers, 13 o 16 months, 417kgs from Surat, QLD selling for 378c; Murray Grey steers, 14 to 15 months, 416kgs from Crookwell, NSW seeling for 305; Shorthorn steers, 12 to 14 months, 484kg from The Gap, NSW selling for 296c.
