On-line bull auctions may be disrupted

auctionsplus-2On-line bull auctions may be disrupted as millions of Australians are now working from home, placing unprecedented pressure on NBN, wifi and mobile services.

Even Netflix is reducing the size of its video streaming service to relieve the national network load.

AuctionsPlus’s external server Azure, who relies on these all these network services, has advised that:

“unprecedented demand on all aspects of technology is being experienced nationwide, and Azure is no exception. As such, capacity constraints and priority criteria have been established. It comes as no surprise that atop of this list is first responders and health and management services followed by critical government infrastructure organizational use”

“What does this mean? Unfortunately, whilst Agriculture has been deemed an essential service we understandably fall below the above services in terms of priority,” AuctionsPlus CEO Angus Street said.

“We have been assured that we should not feel the impacts, however we pride ourselves on having an open door so wanted to flag that there is the possibility that you may experience interruptions, drop outs and a delayed responses with our system in the days and weeks ahead.

“Rest assured, this is an external problem and the result of extraordinary pressure on Azure, which is out of our control.”

Here are a few  tips if your system service is degraded:

  • Enter Limit Bids before the auction starts; this will ensure that yourbids are registered even if you are having difficulty entering the auction.
  • If you are continually being disconnected from the auction and after several attempts, it does not successfully reconnect, call AuctionsPlus for assistance. Importantly, when service interruptions are occurring, online only auctions will not conclude until services are resumed.
  • If your auction timer counts down to zero and following this, the auction doesn’t finish; you have likely lost connection to the auction. Try refreshing your browser or exit the auction and attempt to reconnect to ensure you are up to date.

“Ken & the entire Dev Team are working around the clock to keep our system in top working order to overcome the ever changing challenges which come with unparalleled website traffic and activity,” Mr Street said.

“Our Dev Team are dedicated to identifying any issues as they may happen and work with our Operations Team to tackle and remedy these problems as quickly as possible.”
