Young Merino breeders make to $321

Merino-ewes-DubboYoung Merino breeders (2-4 years) sold from $186 to $321, averaging $273, up $3 on last week with a clearance rate of 76% to total 2,791 head sold.

From Dubbo, NSW a line of 3.5-year-old SIL Poll Merino ewes (pictured) achieved the top price, offered by A/c ‘T.S. & E.A. Tourle’. These 64kg ewes with Kerin Poll blood were joined to Roseville Park Poll Merino rams.

South Australian vendors offered several lines with a number of those heading to NSW. From Tailem Bend, SA a line of 3-year-old Kamora Park blood SIL ewes achieved $307, offered by A/c ‘RAE Erickson’ weighing 72kg with 1.5-2” skins.

From the same vendor, a line of lighter, 69kg SIL ewes achieved the same price. These rising 2-year-old Kamora Park blood ewes have 1.5-2” skins and will be heading to Wagga Wagga, NSW.

Merino ewe lambs sold from $130 to $262, averaging $186, a $20 jump on last week.

A line of future breeder ewe lambs from Warren, NSW by A/c ‘Haddon Rig’ achieved the top price. These lambs are pure Haddon Rig blood, aged 9-10 months, weighing 40kg with 1.5-2” skins.

From Snowtown, SA a line of Leachim Poll Merino blood future breeder ewe lambs offered by A/c ‘Ebsary Pastoral’ sold for $220. These ewes are May/Jun ’19 drop, weighing 37kg. Another highlight includes a line of Sept/Oct ’19 drop future breeder ewe lambs from Enngonia, NSW offered by A/c ‘Outback Pastoral Co’ sold for $182.

These Glendemar blood ewes weigh 30kg and have 1.5-2” skins. Merino ewe hoggets sold from $157 to $235, averaging $201. The top price went to a line of 1.5-year-old hoggets offered by A/c ‘Lexo Pty Ltd’ from Gunning, NSW. These ewes weighed 43kg and have 1-1.5” skins. From Louth, NSW a line of 1.5-year-old ewes weighing 43kgs achieved the next best price of $220.

Proven Merino breeders (4+ years) averaging $255, down $17 on last week, sold from $188 to $321, selling over 4,000 head. From Ungarie, NSW a line of 59kg 4.5-year-old SIL Pure Pastora blood ewes achieved the top price, offered by A/c ‘AS & LM Bryant’. From Blackall, QLD a line of mixed age SIL ewes were offered by A/c ‘JH & RG Banks Pty Ltd’. Weighing 58kgs, these ewes sold for $253 and will be crossing the border, heading to Warren, NSW.

From Marrar, NSW a line of 6.5-year-old SIL ewes sold for $240, weighing 80kgs. These ewes are 100% Pastora blood with 1.5-2” skins, offered by A/c ‘Foylewood Farming Co’.

Merino wether lambs sold from $84 to $180, averaging $140, down $12 on last week, with over 9,000 head sold. Three lines achieved the top price from Euroa & Rutherglen, VIC and White Cliffs, NSW. From Euroa, VIC a line of 38kg, 9-11-month-old wethers with 1” skins, bred from Collinsville and Toland bloods were one of the lines to achieve this top price, offered by A/c ‘Elgo’.

From Brewarrina, NSW a line of vendor bred Mulloorie and Green Field blood wether lambs sold for $130. These Oct/Nov ’19 drop wethers weigh 28kgs and have 1-1.5” skins.

Another highlight includes a line of 5-8-month-old wethers from Longreach, QLD, which will be making their way to Swan Hill, VIC. Weighing 32kgs, these wethers with Well Gully blood sold for $122 and have majority 2-2.5” skins. Older Merino wethers sold from $154 to $188, averaging $170, up $12 on last week.

The top price was achieved by a line of woolgrower hoggets aged 14-20 months, weighing 58kgs, with 2-2.5” skins. These wethers were offered by A/c ‘Yarraford Pastoral Company’ in Gunnedah, NSW.

First cross ewe lambs achieved a $6 jumped to average $250, selling from $191 to $317. The top price went to a line of 9-10-month-old NSM ewes from Trangie, NSW offered by A/c ‘Kinsey Trading Trust’. These ewes weigh 55kg and will travel to Forbes, NSW.

From Tooraweenah, NSW offered by A/c ‘Utopia Pastoral’ a line of ewe lambs weighing 52kgs, Aug/Sept ’19 drop achieved the next best price of $280. Older first cross SIL ewes sold from $194 to a record top price of $421, averaging $327 with over 1,000 head sold.

The top price was achieved by a line of SIL ewes offered by A/c ‘Fowlers Farm’ in Kerang, VIC. Weighing 84kgs, these 2.7-2.8-year-old ewes were SIL to White Suffolk rams. Another highlight across this stock category is a line of SIL ewes weighing 76kgs from Violet Town which will be making their way to Oberon, NSW. These mixed age ewes were joined to Poll Dorset rams and sold for $340.

Shedding breed lambs sold very well achieving 84% clearance among the 2,950 head offered. These lambs sold from $89.50 to $174, averaging $149. The top price was attained by Australian White wether lambs offered by A/c ‘Leven Pastoral’ from Coolah, NSW. These May-Sept ’19 drop Tattykeel and Highveld blood wethers weigh 37kgs.

Looking to Tasmania this week saw 1,651 head offered, down from the 1,742 head offered last week. Prices ranged from $72 to $154, averaging $129, down $34 on last week.

Two lines offered were crossbred lambs selling for $146 and $154, with the latter achieving the top price overall. From Oatlands, offered by A/c ‘Lilliesleaf Farming’ a line of Aug/Sept ’19 Composite/Corriedale mixed sex lambs achieved the top price, weighing 41kgs. A line of 5-year-old Merino wethers were offered and made $132. From Lemont, offered by A/c ‘DJ & LM Manning’, these Sierra Park blood wethers weigh 47kgs with 2-2.5” skins.

Across the country, Western Australian vendors had 14,684 head offered in various national sales this week.

A line of Poll Dorset crossbred Jun/Jul ’19 drop lambs sold for $158. Offered by A/c ‘Hurst Family Trust’ from Dandaragan, these lambs weigh 41kgs. From Kojaneerup South, offered by A/c ‘Baboo Pastoral Co’ a line of May/Jun ’19, 38kg White Suffolk mixed sex lambs sold for $140.
