Merino ewe lambs up $2 to top at $260

From Eden Valley, SA A/c ‘A J Prior’ offered the top priced lot with a line of 12-13-month-old Narcoota blood future breeder ewe lambs (pictured) weighing 54kgs with 2-2.5” skins.

Merino ewe hoggets sold from $225 to $305, averaging $202, correcting $48 on last week. The top priced lot was offered by A/c ‘KP & KA Krollig & Son’ from Bowhill, SA with a run of 369 ewe hoggets.

Weighing 66kgs, these 14-15-month-old ewe hoggets have Kamora Netley blood and 1 ¾” skins.

A small offering of young Merino breeders (2-4 years) saw a 100% clearance among the 580 head listed. Selling from $165 to $229 this category achieved a $5 price rise.

From Tullamore, NSW offered by A/c ‘GS & RJ Baker’ a line of 97 3-year-old scanned empty ewes topped the category. Weighing 52kgs with Wanganella blood, these ewes will be heading to Condobolin, NSW.

Proven Merino breeders (4+ years) sold from $155 to $212, averaging $180, easing $6. The top price went to a line of 375 scanned empty ewes weighing 66kgs. Offered by A/c ‘Clare Partnership’ at Hay, NSW.

These vendor bred ewes have 1 ¼” skins and will travel to Dubbo, NSW. Another highlight includes a line of 120 rising 5-year-old NSM ewes from Parkes, NSW offered by A/c ‘CJ & JW Hall’ which sold for $190, weighing 71kgs.

Merino wether lamb numbers steadied to 12,108 head offered this week with prices ranging from $105 to $160, averaging $131, back $4.

The top price went to a line of 9-10-month-old Hazeldean blood wether lambs offered by A/c ‘TH Cook’ at Braidwood, NSW weighing 42kgs. From Thargomindah, QLD A/c ‘Picarilli Pastoral Co’ offered a line of 10-11-month-old Picarilli blood wethers weighing 51kgs which sold for $155.

Merino wethers achieved a 71% clearance rate, selling from $120 to $160, to average $141, up $8 on last week.

From Mundulla, SA a line of 12-13-month-old wethers secured the top price. Offered by A/c ‘NC & DS Wiese’, these Andoma blood wethers weigh 52kgs with 2 ¼” skins. Another highlight includes a line of 690 trade wethers from Walgett, NSW by A/c ‘Caley Pastoral Co’ weighing 47kgs. These 2-year-old wethers have Bungulla blood, 1” skins on their backs and returned $142.

First cross ewe lambs were in high demand with a 91% clearance rate among the smaller offering of 607 head. Lambs sold from $188 to $322, averaging $277, easing $12. From Nyngan, NSW a line of 9-10-month-old future breeder ewe lambs topped the category.

Weighing 53kgs offered by A/c ‘MA & LK Ticehurst’ these lambs will travel to Forbes, NSW. Returning $220, A/c ‘Rockybar Pty Ltd’ at Goondiwindi offered a line of 9-10-month-old future breeder ewe lambs weighing 48kgs with 1-1.5” skins.

This week saw 1,855 first cross ewes on the box, selling from $250 to $400, averaging $336, back $35. A/c ‘Mirnee Partnership’ from Hunter, VIC sold the top priced lot with 51 22-23-month-old ewes weighing 80kgs that are SIL to White Suffolk rams.

From Canowindra, NSW a line of 15-16-month-old SIL ewes offered by A/c ‘KE & MRA Menzies’ sold for $383. Weighing 65kgs, these ewes have 3+” skins and are SIL to Poll Dorset rams.

Looking across the water to Tasmania this week saw an increase of 312 head to total 884 head listed and an 80% clearance achieved.

Two lines of wether lambs were offered, accounting for nearly 65% of the catalogue, selling for $111 and $135. A/c ‘Indigenous Land Company’ offered the top priced lot with 310 trade wether lambs. Weighing 48kgs, these 9-10-month-old Merino lambs have 1.5” skins and Leahcim blood. Another highlight was a line of 21-22-month-old Corridale ewe hoggets weighing 42kgs offered by A/c ‘Lilliesleaf Farming’ at Oatlands selling for $120.

A decreased offering of 5,204 head saw a boosted clearance rate of 88% among store lambs this week. Selling from 319c to 661c, averaging 453c, the category rose 39c on last week. Highlights include:

– May/Jun ’20 drop, 22kg, Poll Dorset/Merino mixed sex suckers from WAGGA WAGGA, New South Wales sold for 661c or $144

– Mar/Apr ’20 drop, 31kg, Dohne/White Suffolk mixed sex suckers from PARUNA, South Australia sold for 465c or $152

– Feb/Mar ’20 drop, 37kg, Dorper wether lambs from HILLSTON, New South Wales sold for 437c or $160

– Mar/Apr ’20 drop, 36kg, Poll Dorset/Merino mixed sex suckers from CARWARP, Victoria sold for 423c or $152

– Apr/May ’20 drop, 34kg, Poll Merino/White Suffolk mixed sex lambs from GEORGETOWN, South Australia sold for 409c or $141
