Another week, another tough day at the office for the Australian wool market.
The AWEX EMI lost 16c over the week to close off at 929c, or in US doller terms the indicator fell to 671c.
The market was reported as seeing a 21.7% pass-in rate over the two days as growers weighed up their selling options.
The designated Superfine auction in the Northern region did see quality fine type wools draw interest.
What’s more, overseas mills were keen to secure 16.5µ to 17.5µ types, with the potential supply constraint on the horizon. However across the board the market was generally sluggish.
The online offer board was utilised daily over the past week seeing 190 bales sold. Merino Fleeces drew a lot of buyer interest this week with 18.3µ micron Merino fleece selling for 767c greasy.
This lot is 1.6% VM, 97mm, was branded STRADBROOKE and sold by Elders wool. The top priced lot was 13.7µ micron Australian Superfine which sold for 2770c greasy. This lot was branded GLEN STUART and was sold through Roberts Wool.
