Bundilla blood wether lambs in high demand to top at $147

Wethers-YassMerino wether lambs were in high demand, achieving a 98% clearance rate with prices remaining steady on last week.

Selling between $76 and $147, the category averaged $119.

The top price was secured by A/c ‘Consulting and Labouring Solutions’ in Yass, NSW with a line of Sep/Oct ’19 drop woolgrower wether lambs (pictured).

These Bundilla blood lambs weigh 56kgs and have 75mm skins on their backs.

Merino wethers achieved a 100% clearance rate while prices eased $15, to average $116. Selling from $90 to $134, the top price went to a line of Carmel Lorlea blood woolgrower wethers from Navarre, VIC offered by A/c ‘DRJ & KL Slorach’. Weighing 51kgs, these 14-15-month-old wethers have 3mm skins and will head to Kilmore, VIC.

Kicking things off, Merino ewe lambs rose $27, selling between $85 and $267, averaging $207 on AuctionsPlus.

From Cassilis, NSW offered by A/c ‘Martin Bros Pastoral’ a line of 49kg future breeder ewe lambs returned the top price.

These Jul/Aug ’19 drop, Severn Park blood lambs have 70mm skins on their backs and will travel to Bethungra, NSW.

Merino ewe hoggets corrected this week, easing $23, selling from $156 to $301, to average $221.

The top price went to a line of 17-18-month-old future breeder ewe hoggets from Narrandera, NSW offered by A/c ‘K.J. Hall’. These Poll Boonoke blood Poll Merino hoggets weigh 64kgs and have 15mm skin on their backs.

Young Merino breeders (2-4 years) sold to a dearer price trend this week, up $14, selling between $130 and $245, averaging $216 and the category achieved a 91% clearance rate.

A/c ‘K.J. Hall’ at Narrandera, NSW offered the top priced line with 190 NSM ewes weighing 73kgs. These 3.5-year-old ewes have 15mm skins and Poll Boonoke blood.

Proven Merino breeders (4+ years) followed a similar trend, also up $14, selling from $121 to $251, averaging $192, achieving a 96% clearance rate. From Jabuk, SA offered by A/c ‘Broadlands’ a line of mixed age SIL ewes weighing 75kgs secured the top price. These ewes have 95mm skins and are SIL to White Suffolk rams.

 

First cross ewe lambs sold from $202 to $325, averaging $269, back $20 on last week, with the category achieving an 81% clearance rate.

Offered by A/c ‘Llanver Trust’ from Narromine, NSW a line of 67kg, Oct ’19 drop, NSM ewe lambs with 40mm skins, achieved the top price.

A small offering of 730 first cross ewes achieved a 100% clearance rate for the week. Selling from $227 to $319, averaging $308, this category saw a $60 average price increase.

The top price was secured by a run of 2-year-old 66kg ewes, with 5mm skins from Mount Drummond, SA offered by A/c ‘RI & S Hill’.

Ewes with Lambs at Foot (LAF) also achieved a 100% clearance rate this week for the 1,131 head offered. Selling between $253 and $371, the category averaged $300, easing $11 on last week.

From Wentworth, NSW offered by A/c ‘G.C. & S.L. Cullinan’ a line of White Dorper ewes with LAF secured the top price. The mixed age ewes weigh 73kgs and have 25kg LAF aged 2-9-weeks-old, sired by White Dorper rams.

Looking to Tasmania this week, the first sheep sale for the state in several weeks commenced and achieved a 68% clearance rate for the 3,278 head offered, consisting of 2019 drop lambs.

Merino wether lambs were the largest category on offer, making up over half of listings with 1,830 head. A run of 1,830 Oct/Nov ’19 drop wether lambs split across three lines sold from $76 to $78 and averaged $77. Offered by A/c ‘AN Cala Pty Ltd’, these lambs weigh 32kgs with 6mm skins, sired by Stockman Merino rams.

Offered by the same vendor, the top priced Merino ewe lambs sold for $98; they are Oct/Nov ’19 drop weigh 35kgs, with Stockman Merino blood and 6mm skins.

Store lamb numbers jumped this week by nearly 2,000 head to total 10,750 on the box, achieving a 92% clearance rate. Prices ranged from 308c to 483c, averaging 388c, easing 5c. Highlights include:

– Apr/May ‘20 drop, 26kg, White Suffolk/Merino mixed sex suckers from PIANGIL, Victoria sold for 483c or $128

– May/Jun ’20 drop, 30kg, Poll Dorset/Border Leicester/Merino mixed sex suckers from FINLEY, New South Wales sold for 447c or $134

– May – Jul ’20 drop, 36kg, White Suffolk/Merino mixed sex suckers from KINGSCOTE, South Australia sold for 380c or $137

– Mar/Apr ’20 drop, 32kg, White Suffolk/Dohne mixed sex suckers from KAPUNDA, South Australia sold for 364c or $115

– May/Jun ’20 drop, 34kg, Poll Dorset/Poll Merino mixed sex lambs from ORROROO, South Australia sold for 383c or $131

– Apr/May ’20 drop, 37kg Poll Dorset/Merino mixed sex suckers from GRENFELL, New South Wales sold for 385c or $142
