Mumblebone Merino ewe lambs in demand at $301

ewes-MumbleboneMerino ewe lambs saw prices remain firm last week, averaging $168, back $2 from last week with prices ranging from $145 to $301.

The top priced line consisting of Aug/Sep ’19 drop ewe lambs (pictured) weighing 55kgs hailed from Guyra, NSW.

The Mumblebone Merino blood ewe lambs have 6-12mm skins and will remain locally.

Hailing from Ivanhoe, NSW another highlight includes a line of Sep/Oct ’19 ewe lambs weighing 47kgs. The October shorn lambs have Springdale Bred Bellatherie bloodlines and will journey interstate to Millicent, SA.

Merino ewe hoggets saw prices ease $35 from last week to average $238 with prices ranging from $160 to $331. From Torrita, VIC a line of 70kg Gum Hill blood ewe hoggets topped the stock category. The hoggets are September shorn, carry a 6-25mm skin on their backs and will head to Mildura in NW VIC.

Young Merino breeders (aged 2-4 years) achieved a 96% clearance rate this week, with the category averaging $23 dearer than last week at $252 with prices ranging between $210 and $375.

The top line consisted of 3-year-old NSM ewes & lambs from Cooma, NSW which weigh 62kgs and will head to a buyer in Jerangle, NSW. The ewes are September 19’ shorn with 75mm skins and are an Avonside Merino base with Rocdell White Suffolk lambs at foot. Congratulations to the vendors on a great result.

Proven Merino breeds (aged 4+ years) remained firm, averaging $2 dearer at $214 with prices ranging from $167 to $342.

The top line hailed from Broken Hill, NSW and consisted of 3.5-6.5-year-old station mated ewes weighing 58kgs with LAF aged 1-12 weeks averaging 26kgs. The September shorn ewes are of East Bungaree bloodlines and will journey interstate to Keith in SE SA.

Merino wether lambs saw prices ease slightly this week, back $4 to average $136 with prices ranging between $100 and $153.

Hailing from Cowra, NSW the top line of wether lambs weighing 40kgs and are Apr/May 19’ drop. The lambs have Lach River Merino bloodlines with 50mm skins and will journey to Goulburn North in the NSW Southern Tablelands.

Another highlight for this stock category includes a line of store wether lambs from Snowtown, SA which weigh 41kgs and returned $152. The Leahcim bloodline lambs are May/Jun 20’ drop with 50mm skins on their backs and will head to a buyer in Naracoorte, SA.

Merino wethers eased $24 this week to average $144 with prices ranging from $136 to $153. The top line consisted of wethers aged 15-17-months old from Warren, NSW weighing 48kgs. The June shorn wethers are of Wanganella bloodlines, have 52mm skins and will journey to Cowra, NSW.

First cross ewe lambs averaged $26 easier this week at $271 with prices ranging from $175 to $330.

Hailing from Yeoval, NSW the top line consisted of Mar/Apr ’20 drop future breeder ewe lambs weighing 49kgs. The ewes are of ‘The Maze’ bloodlines, are October shorn and will be journeying to a buyer in Bathurst, NSW.

First cross ewe hoggets sold $15 dearer this week to average $369 with lots selling between $337 and $400.

A highlight includes a line of NSM ewe hoggets aged 15-16-months from Bungeet, VIC weighing 67kgs. The September shorn hoggets have 16mm skins, Mullengudgery bloodlines and will journey to Craigie, VIC.

First cross ewes saw an average of $296 this week with prices ranging between $237 and $361. From Wagga Wagga, NSW the top line consisted of 2-year-old NSM ewes weighing 76kgs. The September shorn ewes have 5mm skins and will remain locally.

The store lamb offering saw increased listings this week, up 4,200 from last week to see 33,317 head offered online. Clearance rates remained strong, up from 92% last week to 95% this week. The stock category saw prices ease slightly however, averaging 12c back from last week at 417c with prices ranging from 323c to 693c. Some Highlights from this week include:

– Jul/Aug ’20 drop, 24kg, Merino/Poll Dorset mixed sex suckers from THE ROCK, New South Wales sold for $144 or 610c

– Jul/Aug ’20 drop, 28kg, Merino/White Suffolk wether suckers from BONNIE DOON, Victoria sold for $140 or 507c

– Jul/Aug ’20 drop, 37kg, Merino/White Suffolk mixed sex suckers from WEST WYALONG, New South Wales sold for $181 or 489c

– Jul/Aug ’20 drop, 28kg, Merino/White Suffolk wether suckers from CASTERTON, Victoria sold for $137 or 486c

– Jun/Jul ’20 drop, 24kg, Merino/Poll Dorset mixed sex suckers from COOLAC, New South Wales sold for $146 or 606c
