Australian White ewe lambs hit $458

From Wundowie WA, a line of Mount Ronan blood Maternal/White Suffolk, Jul/Aug 20’ drop future breeder ewe lambs, weighing 38kg, returned $257/head – heading 2,800kms to Culburra SA.

First cross ewe hoggets averaged $349/head, selling from $240 to $427/head – back $20 on last week.

The top price was returned by a line of 17-18 month-old Non-Station-Mated ewes, weighing 77kg from Tarcombe VIC. From Walbundrie NSW, a line of 14-15 month-old scanned empty ewe hoggets, weighing 55kgs, returned $329/head – destined for Talgarno VIC.

First cross ewes sold from $250 to $343/head, averaging $301/head, up $5 on last week. From Douglas VIC, a line of rising three-year-old ewes weighing 71kgs returned the top price. A line of rising four-year-old ewes, weighing 94kgs from Minlaton SA returned $305/head and are headed across the border to Dingwall VIC.

Merino ewe lambs sold from $141 to $231/head, averaging $179/head, up $11 on last week.

From Longreach QLD, a line of May/June Karbullah blood ewe lambs, weighing 25kg, with a 55mm skin, returned the top price – heading across the border to Armidale NSW.

From Strathalbyn SA, a line of June/July Nerstane and Trefusis blood ewe lambs, weighing 48kg with a 4mm skin, returned $200/head.

Merino ewe hoggets averaged $267/head, selling from $151 to $358/head, up $29 on last week. The top price was a line of 15-16 month old, Woodpark blood ewes, weighing 67kg, with a 23mm skin from Fernihurst VIC. From Condingup WA, a line of 17-18-month-old Morundie Park hoggets, weighing 66kgs, with a 35mm skin, returned $242/head. These hoggets have a long road trip ahead of them, heading to Port Augusta SA.

Young Merino breeders (2-4 years) registered another week of strong clearances, hitting 95%, while prices averaged $252/head – selling from $197 to $345/head.

From Moulamein NSW, a line of rising three-year-old Woodpark blood ewes, weighing 69kg, with a 30mm skin returned the top price. An excellent line of rising four-year-old Hazeldean blood ewes, from Wedderburn VIC, weighing 64kg with a 30mm skin, returned $267/head – heading north to Wagga Wagga, NSW.

Proven Merino breeders (4+ years) sold from $131 to $322/head, averaging $203/head, easing $11 on last week. The top price was returned by a line of rising five and six-year-old Merryville blood ewes, weighing 50kg with a 20mm skin, from Bendemeer NSW.

These ewe also had 3-16 week-old lambs-at-foot, sired by Merino rams. From Yorketown SA, a line of rising five-year-old Minta blood ewes, weighing 78kg, freshly shorn, returned $220/head.

Merino wether lambs achieved an 84% clearance for the week, selling from $103 to $175/head, averaging $134/head – easing $2 on last week.

The top price for the week was from Boorowa NSW, with a line of Jun/Jul 20’ drop Kullingrah blood wether lambs, weighing 40kgs with a 37mm skin. Additionally, May/Jun 20’ drop Karbullah blood wether lambs, weighing 28kg with a 52mm skin, from Longreach QLD, returned $126/head and are headed south to Armidale NSW.

Merino wethers averaged $143/head, selling from $118 to $160/head, down $1 on last week. From Bendemeer, NSW, a line of 12-13 month-old Merryville and Nerstane blood wethers, weighing 52kg with a 30mm skin, returned the top price.

First cross ewe lambs sold from $176 to $408/head, averaging $289/head, up $18 from the previous week.

From Minlaton SA, a line of Apr 20’ drop future breeder ewe lambs, weighing 59kgs returned the top price. From Strath Creek VIC, a line of Jun/Aug 20’ drop future breeder ewe lambs weighing 54kg, returned $280/head.

Looking at other breeds highlights, a line of Jul/Aug 20’ drop Australian White future breeder ewe lambs weighing 46kg, from Marrar NSW, returned $458/head. From Wundowie WA, a line of Mount Ronan blood Maternal/White Suffolk, Jul/Aug 20’ drop future breeder ewe lambs, weighing 38kg, returned $257/head – heading 2,800kms to Culburra SA.

The offering from Tasmania this week hit a 100% clearance rate, with 690 head offered across two lines. The offering consisted of Aug/Sep 20’ drop White Suffolk/Coopworth mixed sex store lambs, selling for 468c and 458c, or $159/head.

48,817 store lambs were offered this week, up 15,500 on last week. Prices recorded a 2c increase, to average 419c/kg – selling from 305c to 793c. Highlights from the week include:

– Aug/Sep 20’ drop, 23kg, Border Leicester/Merino mixed sex suckers from WALGETT, NSW, sold for $180/head or 793c.

– Aug/Sep 20’ drop, 26kg Dorset/Merino mixed sex suckers from COOTAMUNDRA, NSW, sold for $138.5/head or 561c.

– Aug/Sep 20’ drop, 29kg 2nd X White Suffolk/Primeline EX BL/Mer mixed sex suckers from WOORNDOO, VIC, sold for $140/head or 488c.

– Aug 20’ drop, 30kg, Primeline/Composite store wether lambs from KEPPOCH, SA, sold for $139/head or 481c.

– Jun/Aug 20’ drop, 36kg 2nd X White Suffolk/Merino store wether lambs from KINGSCOTE, SA, sold for $141.5/head, or 397c.

– Apr/Jun 20’ drop, 40kg Dorper and Australian White/Dorper store wether lambs from MUNGALLALA, QLD, sold for $155/head or 393c.
