Cows and calves remain steady and sell to $3790

Angus-cows-GuyraCows with calves at foot achieved a 72 per cent clearance rate for last week on AuctionsPlus, selling from between $1,500 and $3,790/head – with an average of $2,689/head.

The top price was achieved by H.R Keen Pty Ltd from Guyra NSW, with a line of 2.5 – 4.5-year-old non-station mated Angus cows with calves (pictured).

The cows weighed 495.6kg, with the 2-4-month-old calves weighing 152kgs. They will make their way to Korumburra, VIC.

PTIC heifers sold between $1,450 and $2,700/head – averaging $2,306/head. With a clearance rate of 58%, the top priced lot for the week was recorded by a line of 28 PTIC Angus heifers joined to a Speckle Park bull. Originating from Derrinallum VIC, the heifers averaged 532kg.

From Strathdownie VIC, a line of Angus heifers returned $2,660/head, which were PTIC to Angus bull, averaging 520kg.

There were 3,637 heifers on offer this week, with prices remaining strong and a 80% clearance rate for the category.

Light heifers weighing under 200kg sold from 562c/kg to 708c/kg – averaging 620c/kg.

The top price lot was secured with a line 4-5-month-old Speckle Park/ Friesian heifers, which weighed 160kg.

Heifers weighing 200-280kg ranged from 394c/kg to 642c/kg – averaging 547c/kg. From Durong QLD, a line of 138 head Gelbvieh/Red Angus Composite and Santa/Droughtmaster cross heifers topped the category.

The heifers ranged from 12-14 months of age, averaged 206kg and will remain in QLD.

Heifers weighing 280-330kg ranged from 419c/kg to 638c/kg – averaging 497c/kg. The top price was achieved by a line of 25 unweaned Wagyu/Angus heifers from Bonegilla VIC. The 9-10-month-old heifers weighed 296kg, and returned $1,890/head.

Feeder heifers weighing 330-400kg sold between 403c/kg and 563c/kg – averaging 473c/kg.

The top price for the week went to a line of 16–17 month-old Waguy/Angus heifers weighing 332kg, offered by A/c “Corinda Vale” from Macarthur, VIC.

Heavy heifers weighing over 400kg sold between 332c/kg and 448c/kg – averaging 428c/kg.

The top priced lots were achieved with a run of 20 non-station mated Angus future breeders from A/c “WS & CB Pastoral”, Frogmore NSW. The 16-18-month-old heifers weighed 401kg, and returned $1,800/head.

A larger offering of steers this week matched with a stronger clearance rate, at 87% for the 4,320 head on offer. Steers weighing under 200kg ranged from 410c to 748c/kg – averaging 610c/kg.

From Gunbower VIC, a line of 29 Speckle Park/Friesian unweaned steers achieved the top price at $1,100/head. These 4-5-months-old weighed 161kg and are destined for Morven, NSW.

Steers weighing 200-280kg sold between 423c/kg and 655c/kg – averaging 583c/kg. The top price was achieved by a line of 12–14-month-old steers weighing 209kg from A/c “Killara Cattle Co”, Durong, QLD.

Steers weighing 280-330kg sold between 446c and 679c/kg – averaging 537c/kg. From Bonegilla VIC, a line of 30 Wagyu/Angus steers topped the category.

The Te Mania based blood steers were 9-10-months old, weighed 314kg and will travel to Kyogle, NSW.

Feeder steers weighing 330-400kg sold from 403c/kg to 536c/kg – averaging 486c/kg. Offered by A/c “Corinda Vale” from Macarthur VIC, the top price was secured by line of 9 Wagyu/Angus steers.

Weighing 344kg, these 15-17-month-old steers returned a price of $1,850/head. Meanwhile, from Guyra NSW, a line of 71 Angus steers which weighed 348kg, also returned $1,850/head.

Heavy steers weighing 400kg+ ranged from 342c/kg to 468c/kgs – averaging 446c/kg.

The top price was achieved by a line of 16-17-month-old Angus steers from A/c “Jindalee Pastoral Company”, Henty NSW. These Dunoon blood steers weighed 420kg and will travel to Colbinabbin, VIC.

Across in Western Australia, this week’s sale achieved a clearance rate of 91%, for the 148 head on offer.

Steers averaged 433c/kg, with the top priced coming from a line of 16-18-month-old Angus steers from Pemberton WA, returning a price of $1,690/head. These steers weighed 493kg and will remain in the local Pemberton area.

Looking across to Tasmania, the week’s sale saw a clearance rate of 99% across the 284 head on offer.

Heifers sold between $1,370 and $1,620 – to average $1,507/head. Steers sold between $1,400 and $1850/head, to average $1,728/head.

The top price for the sale was achieved by a line of non-station mated cows and calves from Calder, returning a price of $2,760/head – these units will travel to Hagley, TAS.
