Chinese buyers inject positivity into wool market

The 15µ micron wool sold up to 2005c/kg greasy or 2747c/kg dry and 16µ micron wool sold up to 1905c/kg greasy or 2588c/kg dry.

Another strong week for physical auctions as the AWEX Eastern indicator rose for its third consecutive week increasing 72c on Wednesday and a further 17c on Thursday to close the week at 1291c/kg greasy or 985c/kg in US dollar terms.

Strong confidence remains the market driver as healthy competition from Chinese buyers continues to inject positivity throughout the market.

At the back end of the week, we did see demand slow as Fremantle experienced a 37c/kg loss on Thursday. There is an expected 44,826 bales to be offered in the physical auctions next week.

Online Offer Board Results

The AuctionsPlus offer board had a very busy week selling 4,859 bales. The busiest day was Wednesday where a total of 2,236 bales sold.

The 15µ micron wool sold up to 2005c/kg greasy or 2747c/kg dry and 16µ micron wool sold up to 1905c/kg greasy or 2588c/kg dry.

A total of 739 bales of 20µ micron wool sold across the week selling to 1010c/kg greasy or 1358c/kg dry. The top price for the week was returned by two lines offered by Jemalong wool for 2005c/kg greasy.

These two lines of 15.4 and 15.5µ micron Merino lamb fleece and Merino fleece was 0.5 VM and 0.3 VM and is branded ‘FINCHLEY/CRAIGIE’.
