Lightweight steer weaners make to 622c/kg

From Clifton QLD, A/c “Tonkoro Past” offered a line of 63 Brahman cross weaned steers, achieving the top price at $1,230/head. These 10-12-months-olds weighed 198kg and will travel to Nowendoc, NSW.

Steers weighing 200-280kg sold between 455c and 679c/kg – averaging 614c/kg. From Clifton QLD, a line of 76 Droughtmaster cross steers topped the category offered again by A/c “Tonkoro Past”. These 10-12-month-old steers weighing 208kg are also destined for Nowendoc, NSW.

Steers weighing 280-330kg sold between 304c and 573c/kg – averaging 518c/kg. A/c “Liekefett Holdings” from Oakey, QLD, offered the top line of 93 Santa Gertrudis, Santa Gertrudis cross backgrounder steers.

The Dunlop Gyandra and Rosevale Santa blood steers were 12-14 months old, weighed 284kg and will travel to Roma, QLD.

Feeder steers weighing 330-400kg sold from 336c to 525c/kg – averaging 467c/kg. Offered by A/c “D. Ferguson” from Adelong NSW, the top price was secured by a line of 42 Angus, Angus cross weaned steers.

The Milwillah, Arden and Annaleine Angus blood, 7-8-month-old steers weighed in at 331kg, and are destined for Wombat, NSW.

Heavy steers weighing 400kg+ ranged from 321c to 479c/kg – averaging 434c/kg. The top price was achieved by a line of 14-18-month-old Angus steers from A/c “DHW Group”, Maclagan, QLD. These steers weighed 433kg and will head to Toowoomba, QLD.

Cows with calves at foot sold from $1,410 to $3,700/head – averaging $2,664/head. The top price was recorded by a line of Angus/Speckle Park cows aged 2.5-4.5 years, weighing 547kg with CAF aged 1-6 months weighing 180kg.

Originating from Bathurst NSW, the calves were of Rob Roy Speckle Park blood, and will make their way to Robin Hill, NSW.

PTIC heifers sold between $1,400 and $3,110/head – averaging $2,385/head. With a clearance rate of 59%, the top priced lot hailed from Euroa VIC, and consisted of Poll Hereford heifers aged 29-30 months weighing 665kg.

The heifers will journey to Yea, VIC. Another highlight included 22-23-month-old Angus heifers from Heywood VIC, which weighed 563kg, returning $2,900/head and will head interstate to Keith, SA.

PTIC cows sold from $1,280 to $3,000/head – averaging $2,058/head, with a clearance rate of 63%.

The top line hailed from Mansfield VIC and consisted of Poll Hereford cows aged 41-42 months. The cows weighed 651kg, and will journey to a buyer in Yea, VIC. From Mundulla SA, a line of Poll Hereford cows weighing 550kg, aged 2.8-3 years returned $2,780/head, and will travel interstate to a buyer in Gunbower, VIC.

Steer numbers were up over 1,000 head on last week, with 5,474head on offer – achieving a clearance rate of 83%.
