The highly anticipated Elmar Extravaganza Holstein sale achieved outstanding results on-farm in Leitchville onApril 22, grossing a remarkable $673,400.
FMS Director Lawrie Flanagan says “it was an amazing sale and went above our expectations with the quality of the cattle showcased and the desire for people to get into the Jessica family”.
The single-vendor on-farm sale sold 59 females averaging $10,356 and 9 embryo packages averaging $6,934.
The Jessica family was the star attraction of the day with 32 females averaging $12,500 whilst 8 daughters of Herd Matriarch Elmar Goldwyn Jessica 11 EX93 averaged an incredible $18,833.
The sale topper was Lot 3’s Elmar Solomon Jessica 7 who created a bidding frenzy among the crowd. She sold at $46,500 to the long established Calderlea Herd of Les, Louise, Tim and Amanda Calder of Stoney Creek in Gippsland and is PTIC to calve in July to hot new King Doc son Arrow with a scanned heifer calf.
An impressive 4 females topped over $20,000 including Lot 17’s Elmar Lambda Jessica 4483 for $22,500. She is half-sister to the top priced cow with a BPI of 312. She sold to the Dickson family from Terang, Victoria along with another daughter of Jessica 11 by Lambda for $14,000. The Dickson’s were bulk buyers and purchased 7 head in total averaging $11,624.
6 sexed embryos by Chief from Aftershock Jessica sold to distinguished Canadian breeders Steve and Jackie Fraser from Fergus, Ontario.
Former All-Australian finalist Elmar Golden Dreams Serenade EX92-2E sold for $20,000 to Kevin, Helen and Mitch Jones from Foster in Victoria. They also secured another Lambda X Jessica 11 Daughter, Lot 35, due to Sexed Arrow in Sept for $21,000.
Elmar Chief Jessica 4591 went to prominent breeders of Lightning Ridge Holsteins for $19,500 whilst Luccombe Holsteins from Finley, NSW snapped up another Jessica 11 daughter for $13,000.
Queensland Brothers Dennis and Rob Lindsay, bought Elmar Lambda Jessica 4403 for $17,000. She is PTIC to calve late July to sexed 1st Grade.
There were 78 buyers’ on-farm and purchases were made from overseas and all Australian states.
“It will undoubtedly be remembered as the day the Jessicas spread worldwide” says Mr Flanagan.
