End of an era for nation’s oldest Jersey stud Kings Vale

Kings-Vale-JerseysAustralia’s longest established Jersey Stud, Kings Vale founded by the Anderson Family in 1886 auctioned their final line of heifers at Koonwarra to a top of $7,200 for Kings Vale Casino Madge 2.

This daughter of the EX 91 Valentino Madge 3 cow was purchased by G & S Vagg of Leongatha South.

These same buyers also selected Kings Vale Melys 90 another by Casino bred from many generations of big production EX & VG dams at $4,250 and Kings Vale Brunette 367 by Matt at $3,750.

Yet another by Casino rounded out the third high price of $4,750 for the exceptional type heifer Kings Vale Cowslip 142 selling to Elliott Farms of Lillico.

The well known Broadlin Herd of L & L Broad of Wonthaggi paid $4,700 for Kings Vale Casino Melanie backed by 5 generations of EX dams.

Anderson & Shields of Baxter selected Kings Vale Brunette 365 a very correct Joel from a Valentino dam at $4,250.

Return buyers D & A Mathews of Langdale Jerseys paid $4,200 for Kings Vale Bandanna Melanie 2.

Other noted sales included Kings Vale Rosella 470 a classy heifer by Chrome at $3,750 to D & E Henry of Tinamba. Kings Vale Linda 450 by Megapower at $3,900 and Kings Vale Brunette 369 by Viral at $3,750 both to Peter Langley of Labertouche.

Selling agents Dairy Livestock Services report buyers were from all parts of Victoria along with NSW and more than half were purchased by buyers online through Elite Livestock Auctions.

A total of 23 Heifers av $3,620.
