Avonlea milking herd dispersal sets new Australian sale average record

Avonlea-dispersal-Breeders from all over Australia bid freely to set an Australian record average for a dairy dispersal sale at the Avonlea Holstein milking herd and joined heifer dispersal.

The sale was held on farm and grossed of $1,407,500 and averaged $8504 for females.

Sale top of $30,000 was paid by the partnership of R & H Perrett, Hill Valley and L & L Calder, Calderlea of South Gippsland for the wonderful milking heifer Avonlea Solomon Victory (pictured),this daughter of the current Victorian Winter Fair Champion Cow Murribrook Reginald Victory, EX 91 was admired for her tremendous capacity and exceptional udder and depth of pedigree.

Second top of sale was $27,000 for Avonlea-YF Windbrook Apple (Imp.ET) EX a wonderful framed cow backed by 7 out 8 EX dams from the World famous Regiment Apple-Red family, she was purchased by the Jones Family of Foster. These buyers selected several of the top lots including Avonlea Stanleycup Missy, the current Vic Winter Fair Intermediate Champion at $20,000, Yurunga Sid Mandy, EX 93 backed by the Hanover Hill Designer Miss family at $18,000, Avonlea Atwood Lana, VG 87 at $15,000 along with Coomboona Balisto Rolita, VG 89 bred down from Thrulane James Rose, EX 97 and Sleepy Hollow Goldsun Anthea, EX 91 both at $12,000.

Equal third high of $25,000 was the incredible milk cow Avonlea Goldwyn Mary, VG 87 bred from the famed Wyoming Mary line selling to S & S Paulger of Kenilworth, Qld, these buyers also selected Spring Oaks Doc Fay an outstanding in calf heifer at $11,000 and Avonlea Unix Roxy at $10,000. Also at $25,000 was the lovely dry cow Avonlea Capital Roxy, VG selling to Eloora Pastoral of Deniliquin, NSW who also purchased Avonlea Sunlight Figsie 2 at $13,000.

The freshly calved Red heifer Avonlea Jodies Diamond, VG 85 by Diamondback from the Fradon Jodie line sold at $22,000 to TR Investments of East Gippsland, same buyers also purchased Avonlea Doorman Princess the winning 2 year old in milk from the Vic Winter Fair at $19,000.

Elm Banks Holsteins of Crossley in Western Vic purchased several outstanding young cows including Avonlea Alanas Gain a fresh 2 year old grand daughter of Sanchez Alana, EX 93 at $22,000, Avonlea Doorman June (Imp.ET) VG a grand daughter of Loyalyn Goldwyn June, EX 97 at $21,000, Avonlea Doorman Amanda, VG 86, a daughter of Alana, EX 93 at $16,000 along with Avonlea Kingboy Ruby an Autumn calving heifer at $14,000, Avonlea Solomon Sally 2 also at $14,000 and Avonlea Oakwood Samantha, VG 87 at $11,000.

Carisma Holsteins & D & A Mathews paid $16,000 for the Hon Men Intermediate Champion of the Vic Winter Fair Avonlea Stanleycup Evie, VG 86. Gordon Past. Co of Tongala selected Avonlea Doorman Alana at $15,000. Also at this figure was Avonlea Kingdoc April, VG selling to Empire Holsteins of SA. Bendara Dairies paid the same money for Avonlea Diamondback Alana, VG and $14,000 for Foxdale Reginald Peggy, EX 92 along with Avonlea Shottle Penny, VG 88 also at $14,000.

Selling agents Dairy Livestock Services report that buyers were from all parts of Victoria along with SA, NSW & Qld. Along with the large crowd on site the sale was viewed by more than 750 people around the World with 41 lots selling to online buyers through Elite Livestock Auctions.
