The $5 grassfed cattle transaction levy* was last set in 2006 and has remained unchanged since then. In 2025, Cattle Australia initiated a review to ensure the levy remains fit for purpose and continues to deliver meaningful benefits to the industry.
The levy underpins critical investment for producers and the broader supply chain, generating around $75 million per year from our grassfed cattle sector, within an industry with a gross value of production close to $19 billion.
The Cattle Transaction Review Committee is seeking your views on where the levy can deliver the greatest value into the future.
This is the first survey as part of the Review, and invites your feedback on:
- the effectiveness of current levy investments
- options to improve flexibility and transparency
- opportunities to strengthen the long-term impact of levy-funded activities
