A pen of Charolais cross steers exhibited by the Millner family of Rosedale Charolais, Blayney has been awarded the Champion Pen of Steers for Feedlot Performance at the 2016 Beef Spectacular Feedback Trial.
Over a 112 day feeding period, the steers bred by the Millner’s averaged a daily weight gain of 2.77kg/day, more than 0.5kg/day above the feedlot trial average of 2.25kg/day.
The Australian cattle industry will be influenced by a number of extreme forces in 2016.
From a cattle supply point of view, numbers over the coming two years will fall to levels not seen in more than twenty years.
RECORD saleyard prices for heavy cattle means there is no better time to step into the weight and production advantages of the Charolais breed.
And the Southern Invitational Charolais Bull and Female Sale, to be held at Yea for the first time this March, gives southern producers easy access to the latest genetics from some of the country’s leading studs.
