Young dairy leader to talk on industry careers

Young dairy farmers are encouraged to attend to hear the career streams available.

Are you a young farmer interested in what the industry can offer you? Then join West Vic Dairy and meet the winner of the 2016 Young Dairy Leader Award, Simon Gleeson.

Simon runs his own successful heifer rearing business, Bilyana Grazing, near Nirranda and was recognised for his outstanding contribution to the Timboon Agricultural Project (TAP).

Hear from other young industry people in this region about their careers and goals for the
future. The evening is also an opportunity to learn about opportunities offered by industry
organisations, such as WestVic Dairy and the Gardiner Dairy Foundation.

Speakers include:
• Simon Gleeson, on his involvement in the TAP project, his leadership goals/journey, what the
future holds.

• Rachel Alexander, Runner-Up of the 2016 Great South West Dairy Awards speaking about her career path, her Belted Galloway stud and
leadership opportunities she encountered.

• Heidi Van Es, WestVic Dairy Regional Extension Officer -Young Dairy Network, outlining the
Developing Dairy Leaders Program, Dairy Sage
and LeadIn programs.
