South Australian Libby Creek, has been declared the first female President of Angus Australia at a meeting of its’ Directors, held in Albury on May 20.
Hailing from Avenue Range in South Australia Mrs Creek has extensive experience within both the seedstock and commercial beef industry’s and has been a member of the South Australian Angus State Committee for twenty years.
Mrs Creek and her husband Bruce, managed the well-known Angus stud, The Basin for eighteen years. After The Basin’s dispersal, the Creek’s took on the role of business managers for the Hillcrest Pastoral Company, a commercial cattle operation running 2,500 Angus and Angus cross females in the south east of South Australia
Most recently the Creeks’ managed the building of a large scale Angus herd in Kazakhstan from the ground up using Australian genetics.
After spending six years on the Board, Mrs Creek is thrilled to be taking on a new challenge in chairing the Directors. ‘“It will be an interesting challenge for me but one that I am pleased to take on, with Angus cattle and their marketing opportunities being a long time interest of mine.”

“The willingness of Angus producers to embrace performance recording and new technology has lead to the breed being a premium product in both the domestic and international market place,” she said.
Mrs Creek is taking over the role of President from Hugh Munro, Booroomooka Angus stud, Bingara, NSW, who is retiring after nine years on the Board.
Mrs Creek will be supported by a team of eleven Directors, including new Vice President, Brad Gilmour from Emu Creek Angus, Boorcan VIC.
