Angus board meets to discuss Trans-Tasman Breedplan

The meeting included a joint session with the NSW State Committee, also meeting in Dubbo at the time.

The Board meeting was followed by a field trip to Trangie and Narromine on Saturday 16th July.

Items addressed at the Board meeting include:

  • Discussion with representatives of the Angus New Zealand Board to investigate potential joint future initiatives associated with youth development, Trans-Tasman Angus BREEDPLAN genetic evaluation,  utilization of genomics data, progeny testing, database and recording services.
  • Approval of the composition of Consultative Committees, as follows:
  • Angus Youth Consultative Committee: Laura Grubb (Chair), James Knight, Hannah Powe, Farrah Preston; with Brad Gilmour (Marketing, Communications and Youth Committee Chairman) and the Angus Youth Development Officer to be ex‐officio members.
  • Angus BREEDPLAN Consultative Committee: James Laurie (Chair), Bryan Corrigan, Sinclair Munro and Frank Archer; with Lindsay Wolrige (Breed Development & Extension Committee Chairman) and Andrew Byrne (Breed Development & Extension Manager) to be ex-officio members.
  • Angus Sire Benchmarking Consultative Committee: Ross Thompson (Chair), Stephen Handbury, David Murray, Stephen Chase, Don Mackay (Rangers Valley Feedlot), and Sam Gill (MLA); with Libby Creek (Angus Australia Chairman), Sam White (Strategic Projects Committee Chairman), Peter Parnell (CEO), Christian Duff (Strategic Projects Manager) and Nick Butcher (ASBP Project Officer) to be ex-officio members.
  • A Commercial Development Program to be commenced to enhance Angus Australia’s engagement with participants of the beef supply chain, including commercial producers, feedlots, processors and exporters.
  • Approval to proceed with expansion of Angus Australia office to accommodate future staff requirements.
