Investing in rural industries, innovation in broadacre cropping and beef production, and intensive and irrigated farming in the Riverina are the key issues on the agenda when Griffith hosts the ABARES Regional Outlook conference on 26 October, with nil registration fees.
The conference’s opening address will be delivered by the Assistant Minister to the Deputy Prime Minister, Luke Hartsuyker MP; leading a line-up of keynote speakers from industry, alongside local producers and ABARES economists.
ABARES acting Executive Director, Peter Gooday, said the one-day conference was a valuable event for those working in agricultural industries in the Riverina and beyond.
“It’s an opportunity for stakeholders in the agriculture sector to meet and discuss the latest economic trends, hear commodity updates and understand opportunities for the sector that will assist in their business planning,” Mr Gooday said.
“Attending the conference is a great way for delegates to build on their industry knowledge and network with colleagues from businesses across the region.”
The conference program will focus on the national and international economic issues affecting the state, agriculture and free trade agreements, weather forecasting, forecasts for regionally significant commodities, innovation in the grain supply chain and feedlot beef production, speciality produce marketing, inland aquaculture, certified organic vegetable production and the regulatory framework for the winegrape industry.
