Shorthorn steers hit 446c/kg on AuctionsPlus

Shorthorn-8Shorthorn cattle have continued to receive excellent demand in Auctions Plus sale, despite a general softening in the Eastern states cattle market.

90 weaned Shorthorn & Shorthorn cross, EU Accredited steers, offered by Arranmore Pastoral Co, Manilla have returned $4.46/kg.

The 10-11 month old weaners averaged 294.7 kgs, returning $1,315.00 per head. Bloodlines represented included Nero, Nagol Park & Dunbeacon.

Arranmore Pastoral Co also offered 33 10-month old weaned Shorthorn & Shorthorn cross heifers, weighing an average of 257.8 kgs and returning $900 per head.

In the breeding section of the sale, 17 PTIC Shorthorn & Shorthorn Cross Heifers, offered by Clare Partnership, Hay, returned an excellent result selling for $1,820 per head.

29 14 to 17 months old, Shorthorn & Shorthorn cross backgrounder heifers, averaging 293.7kgs, offered by CL & HM McMeniman, Ballandean, returned $995 per head. The McMeniman family have been using Dunbeacon Stud Shorthorn bulls for 22 years.
