Restockers active on cows and steers sell to 428c/kg

Light restocking steers sold to 428c and the medium and heavy vealers from 345c to 385c/kg at SELX Yass.

Numbers eased slightly and the quality remains mixed with a large percentage lacking finish.

Trade cattle were limited. Re-stockers were active on a large number of the young cattle along with the usual feeder orders.

Re-stockers were also very active on the plainer light and medium weight cows with the prices remaining similar but the quality was well back. All the usual buyers were operating in a dearer market.

Light restocking steers sold to 428c and the medium and heavy vealers from 345c to 385c/kg. Feeder steers sold 10c dearer with one particularly strong sale that reached 377c averaging 350c/kg. Feeder heifers lifted 7c selling between 325c and 347c/kg. The few trade cattle were 14c dearer on the heavy weights selling from 311c to 354c/kg.

There were too few grown steers to quote with heavy bullocks reaching 294c and the best of the heifers made to 310c/kg. Medium weight 2 score cows were dearer on quality selling to both re-stockers and processors from 218c to 240c/kg. The heavy 3 and 4 scores were a few cents cheaper on the majority ranging from 232c to 249c to average 242c/kg.
