Light weaner steers topped at 526c/kg at the SELX Yass April weaner sale last week.
Quality was outstanding and prices were up while agents penned 2,966 cattle including 18,62 steers. Buying competition came from numerous commission buyers, local buyers and interstate buyers from South Australia and Victoria.
Steers:
- 330+kg – $1360 – $1410 – $3.95-$4.10/kg
- 300-320kg – $1190-$1260 – $4.00-$4.38
- 250-300kg these were well represented and quality was excellent. Premium was paid for weaned cattle – $4.15-4.70/kg
- 200-250kg – $4.50-$4.80
- Under 200kg – $4.50-$4.90+
- Light Hereford steers up to $5.26/kg
Heifers: Quality was excellent and demand came from Goulburn, Yass, Albury, Cootamundra and South Australia.
- 300kg+ – Topped at $1220 – $3.59-$3.68/kg
- 250-300kg – $3.95-$4.35/kg
- Under 250kg – $4.00-$4.65/kg
