Tasmanian’s peak farming organisation has applauded the news that the State Government will move to co-fund stock underpasses for dairy farmers.
The Tasmanian Farmers and Graziers Association (TFGA) CEO Peter Skillern said that this was a great initiative for the farming community and we look forward to working through the detail with the Government.
“The TFGA and other industry stakeholders have been advocating for this outcome for several years now. We are looking forward to working through the details of the plan with the Government,’’ Mr Skillern said.
TFGA Dairy Council chairman Andrew Lester said that underpasses would help improve farm efficiency, and encourage farmers to consider expanding their herds.
“This will help to make our sector more efficient and productive; and safer for farmers and their employees,’’ Mr Lester said.
“It will also improve road safety and amenity concerns for the general public.”
