Lightweight steer weaners hit 513c/kg on AuctionsPlus

PTIC heifers averaged $1856 to a top price of $2,880 for a line of Angus heifers from Glen Innes, NSW.

Nationwide, steers weighing 300kg to 350kg sold from 300c to 443c, to average 386c/kg live on AuctionsPlus last week.

Cattle numbers had a slight increase with a total consignment of 12,113 head.

State by state offerings are as follows; Queensland 3,670 head, New South Wales 7,513 head, Victoria 343 head, South Australia 371 head, Tasmania 116 head and Western Australia 100 head.

Under 250kg sold from 350c to 513c, to average 440c/kg live

250kg to 300kg sold from 357c to 481c, to average of 425c/kg live

300kg to 350kg sold from 300c to 443c, to average 386c/kg live

350+kg sold from 276c to 369c, to average of 328c/kg live

Queensland steer highlights include;

  • 5 to 10 month old Brangus steers, 235kg, from Blackwater which sold for 439c/kg or $1,030
  • 7 to 9 month old EU Angus cross steers, 257kg, from Toobeah which sold for 481c/kg or $1,235
  • 8 to 10 month old Crossbred steers, 316kg, from Yelarbon which sold for 356c/kg or $1,125
  • 16 to 22 month old EU Santa & Brahman cross steers, 358kg, from Monto which sold for 334c/kg or $1,195

New South Wales steer highlights include;

  • 7 to 8 month old EU Hazeldean and Dunoon blood Angus steers, 232kg, from Cooma, which sold for 513c/kg or $1,190
  • 8 to 9 month old EU Gunyah blood Poll Hereford steers, 256kg, from Bombala which sold for 466c/kg or $1,195
  • 7 to 9 month old Angus steers, 303kg, from Bombala which sold for 443c/kg or $1340
  • 19 to 20 month old Kilburnie Angus steers, 378kg, from Uralla which sold for 369c/kg or $1,395

Victoria and South Australia highlights include;

  • 7 to 9 month old The Glen and Ardrossan blood Angus steers, 236kg, from Walwa, VIC which sold for 484c/kg or $1,140
  • 12 to 22 month old crossbred steers, 340kg, from Padthaway, SA which sold from 440c/kg or $1,250
  • 8 to 9 month old Angus/ Braford steers, 275kg from Stewart Range, SA which sold for 368c/kg or $1,210

250kg to 300kg sold from 330c to 396c, to average 362c/kg live

  • 5 to 8 month old EU Angus cross heifers,  194kg, from Moura which sold for 350c/kg or $680
  • 10 to 15 month old Santa Gertrudis cross heifers, 262kg, from Inglewood which sold for 346c/kg or $905
  • 12 to 20 month old Brahman and Charolais/ Brahman and Brahman/ Gelbvieh heifers,  381kg, from Biloela which sold for 287c/kg or $1,095

New South Wales heifer highlights include;

  • 7 to 8 month old Angus heifers, 232kg, from Binda which sold for 444c/kg or $1,030
  • 7 to 9 month old Angus heifers, 295kg, from Black Mountain which sold for 396c/kg or $1,170
  • 18 to 19 month old EU Hazeldean and Dunoon blood Angus heifers, 373kg, from Cooma which sold for 357c/kg or $1,330
  • 11 to 13 month old Waratah and Glen Ellerslie Poll Hereford heifers, 315kg from Adelong which sold for 328c/kg or $1,035

South Australia highlights include;

  • 8 to 9 month old Angus/Braford heifers, 264kg, from Stewart Range which sold for 360c/kg or $950
  • 10 to 18 month old EU and Organic Angus/ Hereford heifers, 342kg, from Marree which sold for 387c/kg or $1,325

PTIC female numbers were up this week, with PTIC heifers averaging $1856 to a top price of $2,880 for a line of Angus heifers from Glen Innes, NSW. These heifers are 20 to 22 months old and PTIC to Wagyu bull. Young PTIC Cows averaged $2,135 with a top price of $2,380. This top price went to a line of rising 3 year old EU Angus cows from Walcha, NSW, PTIC to Angus bulls. PTIC proven breeders averaged $1,851 with a top price of $2,220. This top price went to lines of Angus Cows from Glen Innes and Braidwood, NSW. PTIC mixed aged lines averaged $1,193 with a top price of $1,920. Older PTIC cows averaged $1,360 with a top price of $1,570.
