The medium and heavy trade lambs were $2 to $6 dearer ranging from $130 to $159/head, to average 650c to 660c/kg cwt at SELX Yass this week.
Lamb numbers improved and the quality was again mixed. Light lambs that lacked cover were well supplied and there was only a small offering of well finished trade and heavy lambs available.
The market was dearer on most lambs. All the usual buyers were operating and a supermarket order returned.
Restocking lambs were firm but the quality was not as good. Light store lambs sold from $103 to $137 with a pen of unfinished trade weights to $153/head.
The medium and heavy trade lambs were $2 to $6 dearer ranging from $130 to $159/head, to average 650c to 660c/kg cwt. Heavy and extra heavy lambs sold $6 to $8 dearer, ranging from $153 to $192/head, to average from 630c to 640c/kg cwt.
Mutton numbers were back with mostly light and medium weight sheep penned. Prices averaged firm to $4/head dearer. Light ewes sold from $86 to $103/head. Medium weights made from $104 to $143 and heavy crossbred ewes reached $175/head. Most averaged 520c to 540c/kg cwt.
