Angus Australia was saddened to hear of the recent passing of Bruce Steel, Ben Nevis Angus Walcha NSW on the 7th of June 2017.
Bruce was an enthusiastic supporter of Angus, and a member of Angus Australia for 70 years.
The Ben Nevis Angus Stud was established in 1947 and remains a family affair today, as a 4th generation family business which included Bruce and Cherry Steel, Kylie Cox as well as Erica and Stuart Halliday and Bruce and Cherry’s grandchildren Bonnie Cox and Jack and Maggie Halliday.
Along with his wife Cherry, Bruce had a passion for supporting the youth of the beef industry. Bruce and Cherry were co founders of both the Tocal Judging School and the Angus Youth Roundups.
Ben Nevis was also a co-founder of the New England Angus Breeders Group.
Both Bruce and Cherry have been awarded Honorary Life Memberships from Angus Australia for their contributions to the breed.
Angus Australia Directors and staff pass on their sincere condolences to Bruce’s family and friends.
A funeral will be held at 10am on Tuesday the 13th of June 2017 at Piddingtons Crematorium, Armidale NSW for friends and family.
