Sheep and lamb numbers dropped this week, totaling 48,540 head, which was 6,308 head less than last week.
A clearance rate of 58 per cent was seen across all sheep auctions, as the market appears to have softened slightly.

While a lot of Primeline ewes returned a strong price of $280. These 10-11 month, 58 kg ewes came from Cumnock, NSW and were scanned in lamb to Primeline Lambpro rams.
Young breeding Merino ewes got the better of their older proven breeder counterparts this week. Highlights included a line of 2-year-old, 54 kg scanned in lamb Pooginook blood Merino ewes. These ewes came from Canowindra, NSW and earnt a great top price of $231.
Following was a good line of 2 year old, 56 kg Merino ewes hailing from Tullamore, NSW. These girls were scanned in lamb to Dunnield Border Leicester rams, and sold for $212.
Meanwhile the older girls recorded some slightly lower prices. 3.5-5.5 year old Merino ewes from Harden, NSW made $186, and weighed in at 58 kg.
These older ewes were scanned in lamb to White Suffolk rams. Another highlight for the older age bracket was a line of 5.5 year old Merino Ewes from Taralga, NSW. These ewes tipped the scales at 59 kg, were joined to Border Leicester rams and went for $167.
Young first cross future breeder ewe lambs from Dunedoo, NSW are making the journey to Shepparton, VIC to restock the flocks.
These Border Leicester/Merino ewe lambs are 10 to 11 months, and weighed in at 47 kg. They are out of Haddon Rig and Pemcaw blood ewes, and sired by Talbragar Border Leicester rams. These lambs found an impressive price at $212.
White Suffolk/Merino mixed sex store lambs out of Warren made a solid price of $136.5. This October 2016 drop weighed 36 kg and were bred out of Woodside blood ewes by Corbie White Suffolk rams. New season Australian White/White Dorper suckers out of Longreach, QLD went for $95. These young scallywags are only 4 months old and are weighing in at 28 kg.
Dohne’s deserve a mention, reaching a solid price of $225.5. This figure went to 1.5-2.5 year old ewes out of Walgett. They weighed 58 kg and were scanned in lamb to Border Leicester rams. These Dohne ewes did justice to their 100% Macquarie bloodline.
The top price out of Tasmania this week went to a line of 4-6-year-old Merino Wethers. These older blokes have seen enough of Tassie and are now on their way to Epsom in Victoria.
Just the two lots were up for sale from WA this week, where 300 Merino ewe lambs found their top price at $132. These lambs were 39 kg, 11-12 months old and came from Wyalkatchem.
