$2.5 million funding for fencing and stock management

Interested land managers can contact Riverina Local Land Services to find out more about the funding program.

Riverina land managers will benefit from an injection of $2.5 million in funding through the 2017-18 Riverina Local Land Services Funding Program.

The incentive program will assist land managers carry out on-farm activities that supports increasing farm productivity and improving natural landscapes within the Riverina.

Projects and activities vary to meet the needs of different farming systems, but cover a wide range of opportunities, such as:

  • construction of stock management areas
  • fencing and planting new corridors of native trees and shrubs
  • fencing to subdivide paddocks to land capabilities
  • soil testing and training for sustainable land management
  • wetland and waterway restoration
  • innovation for irrigators grants
  • innovation for rangelands grants
  • assistance for training.

General Manager, Rob Kelly said these grants are made possible from funding by the Australian Government through its National Landcare Programme and the NSW Government.

“The funding enables Riverina Local Land Services to work in partnership with farmers and groups in agriculture and natural resource management,” said Mr Kelly.

He urged interested land managers to contact Riverina Local Land Services to find out more about the funding program.

“Our website has information on every project with a contact person to talk to and there is an on-line “How can we help you” form to make an expression of interest; or just call into your nearest Riverina Local Land Services office”, he said.
