The Bred Well Fed Well workshops are now underway following a successful series of trial workshops including days held at Spry’s Shorthorns, Wagga and Eloora Shorthorns, Cavendish, Vic.
With the support of MLA, the practical workshops are designed to deliver tangible on-farm results for beef producers, similar to the impact the Bred Well Fed Well concept has made in the sheep industry.
The first Bred Well Fed Well workshops will be held at Futurity Shorthorns on August 9th. The day will be on-property at Kenebri, NSW and will run from 9am to 4 pm.
Following on from the Futurity workshop, three more workshops will also be held August 14th at Yamburgan Shorthorns, Narrabri. August 15th at Royalla Shorthorns, Cumnock and August 16th at Ronelle Park Shorthorns,Lyndhurst, NSW.
The one-day workshops are an opportunity for breeders to increase their knowledge and skills, to assist them to combine structured breeding programs with nutrition strategies that allow them to unlock greater on farm productivity and profitability.
Key presenter will be Dr. Jason Trompf, who will help attendees develop a breeding goal tailored to suit there environment and key markets, as well as sire selection, heifer nutrition and understanding requirements to build carcass quality attributes within their herd.
Feedback from the trials has been extremely positive with many attendees quick to discuss the value of the workshops to their beef programs.
