Cows and calves from Robe, SA made an impressive $2,700 on AuctionsPlus last week.
This line of 6 year old Angus cows have 200kg calves at foot sired by Woonallee Black Simmental bulls and are PTIC to Simmental bulls.
Shorthorn cows, 2-2.5 years, and calves from Londrigan, VIC made an impressive $2,100.
Commercial cattle numbers fell slightly this week to total 8,053 head with a total clearance rate of 48%. Despite a reduction in numbers, some strong prices were still recorded.
PTIC female numbers were strong and heifer and cow numbers quite even. The correction in breeder prices has allowed processors to step back into this market, and while not securing any sales today there was activity on several lines of PTIC cows.
PTIC heifers this week averaged $1,568 with the top line from Buln Buln, VIC making $2,000. These Simmental/Friesian heifers are PTIC to a Limousin bull and are heading across the Bass Strait into Tasmania.
PTIC cows averaged $1,574 with the top line hailing from Deniliquin, NSW making $2,255. These Angus/Angus cows are PTIC to Rennylea Angus bulls and are heading into the Northern Tablelands region.
Two standout lines of PTIC cows hailed from Orange, NSW. Aged rising 5 and 6 years old, they were offered by the same vendor, both making $1,800.
Droughtmaster cross cows and calves from Blackall, QLD made an impressive $1,740. The mixed age line have sappy 140kg Santa calves at foot and have been joined back to a Santa bull.
Heifers presented well this week with a standout line of 120 Charolais/Brahman 6-9 month old weaned heifers from Clermont, QLD. These heifers made 335c/kg or $715. Well done to the vendors.
Moving south, the Cobungra Station heifers were also listed this week, with the steers being old last week on AuctionsPlus. There weaned heifers sold extremely well with the top line of 9-10 month olds making 411c/kg or $750.
